Any cont5ainer that you use needs vent holes in the top and drainage holes in the bottom, with a clear plastic cover. There also needs to be growing space above the soil. I am familuar with wall paper treys and don't think they would be very good to use. 2 ltr. bottles and milk jugs are the most often items used however there is some who vary their container a lot. So alnost any container can be used with some improvision with 3 necessitys It must have drainage, It must have ventulation and It must have light, Natural.. jim

We went to an estate sale in the Chickasaw Gardens area (of Memphis) a few months ago, and the large room added on to the back portion of the house was done entirely in grasscloth, import porcelain pieces, oil paintings, and oriental carpets over a slate floor. I swooned. DH took one look and said that he wanted that look in his office, so it definitely also appeals to men. I love the inspiration photos above...such great examples! Sometimes Seabrook has grasscloth at a deep discount, especially if someone orders something and then decides to go a different direction. Check the Mendenhall location occasionally, or have them call you, and you might luck out and find some nice grasscloth for a nice price!

You could test the painter's tape on the wallpaper in an inconspicuous area. Most wallpaper is fairly durable. But rolling slowly and being prepared to wipe off any spills immediately is an easier way to go about it. I recently painted two of my ceilings without major spotting on the walls - it can be done. And I am not an expert painter. If you cover the massive furniture with plastic and use a roller on a pole, you may not have to move the furniture. I strongly suggest you use a 7 inch roller in place of the 9 inch. It is lighter and easier to control when it is at the other end of a pole. You will have to buy a 7 inch roller frame - it won't fit on the standard 9 inch frame. I assume you will paint the perimeter of the room with a brush and then use a roller (called cutting in). Best painting tip I ever received: paint the perimeter with the brush and let it dry completely according to the paint can recommendations. Then use the roller. It lets you work slowly and carefully with the brush and avoids "hatbanding." It's funny that you posted this today. I was looking at my bathroom ceiling today, having painted it a couple weeks ago, and thought how good it looked and why did I wait so long to do it.

I love wallpaper, and use it often. But I do agree about people who apply multiple layers or paint over it. Doesn't sound like any of you have ever had the challenge we had in this house. I kid you not--I counted carefully--our living room had TWELVE layers of wallpaper, several with pain on them. And we stripped every scrap of it off before doing anything further. One interesting thing I've noticed lately--the houses for sale in the neighboring town (one of the priciest, most 'desireable', most trendy in the country) are mostly showing very, very busy wallpapers lately. Guess it's coming back.
