Thanks for the input. I couldn't be subjective knowing the circumstances, and I was curious if others thought it sounded as dumb as I did. To make it even worse, the things they complained about were things she couldn't possibly have known. One was a lint build-up in the dryer vent which was attached to a dryer at the time. Another was that they felt the A/C was too slow to cool the house. Once the house is cooled it maintains the temperature fine, but they thought it took too long to get there. When my agent called me last week to tell me about the negative review, she was pretty upset. The particular site only had one positive review of her, and then this negative review came along. She depends on military buyers for a lot of her business, and they would likely use the internet in their search for an agent and see the review. I told her I would write a positive review and suggested that she ask other previous clients to do the same. She asked the site to remove the review because they weren't her clients (it is the site's policy to only allow reviews from clients) and I flagged it as inaccurate and asked that it be removed. I just checked to see if it has been removed, and it's still there, but it's the last review of 19 reviews now. The other 18 are positively glowing and full of facts and anecdotes about how stellar she is. And really, she is probably the hardest-working and most conscientious agent I've ever run across, so I'm glad that it looks like the situation will have a happy ending for her.

Lisa, I believe I am going to get the Artifacts faucet #K-99260. I am linking to it below on the Kohler website. It is about $500 online, which is high but it seems to have so much going for it, that I am hoping it's worth it. Kohler says its "Unique handle execution provides intuitive use and eliminates handle interference with backsplash." It seems to have the benefits of a one-handle faucet, but the handle placement is unusual, and seems like it would be very helpful. And it has the magnetic docking which I checked out in a showroom, and is really good. The faucet head felt more ergonomic and comfortable to me than some of the other faucets on display. It also has two kinds of spray, and one of the sprays (called a "sweep" spray) has a fanning-out shape that will be very good for washing the sink and dishes. Plus, it sure is good-looking (IMHO). My only concern is that it is very tall, but I think that will just make it a focal point in my kitchen which I need. Artifacts Faucet K-99260-CP on Kohler Website (approx. $500 online)

I've had a modular built for me before. I agree with whoever said upthread that the finish company (for lack of a better term) is probably the most important part of the equation. However a very close second is the quality of the manufacturing company who is building the boxes. Some companies are basically building glorified trailers (with very poorly installed drywall and builder basic, scarily-cheap kitchen cabinets, etc.), whereas other companies produce much better quality. The older I get, the less stock I put in online reviews. I could write a book as to why. However the gist of it is that no matter what you found online, it can't (in my opinion) take the place of you going to view some of their completed work and talking to prior customers. So if you're debating building a modular, talk to the GC who will handle the site and finish work. Ask to see some finished homes. Ask WHY they use the company they use, ask about quality control and what happens if the boxes come and you or they discover serious flaws. Get the name of the manufacturing company and google that, because I promise you that online reviews do exist for those companies. Good luck. My first home was a modular, and honestly it was an adorable cape cod with reasonable quality finishes. I still miss that home and would have packed it up and taken it with me if I could. :)

It could have been new in 1915 I suppose! They were based on an old design but like my antique Duncan Phyfe dining set (and almost everyone else's), few are the real deal. They probably peaked during the great depression when a lot of furniture companies kept the lights on making inexpensive "novelty" furniture that people could afford. (Not to say there aren't good quality ones as well--and even the low end ones were probably decent by today's furniture standards.)
