I'm pretty much an inately frugal person by Scottish heritage... though that's probably folk lore to a great extent.

One of the supermarkets I go to has 2 areas that I ALWAYS check out.

Seriously discounted produce. NOT ROTTEN, somtimes hard to tell from "perfect", at most starting to look a bit sad. EX: 2 celery hearts today, looked like maybe 1-2 MAX stalks on each that would probably be tossed... $1! Less that "perfect" tomatoes, cabbage, etc. are FINE by me, especially if getting ready to make soup or stew.

Seriously reduced meat/poultry. Anywhere from $1-2 off to half price... no less than 2-3 days BEFORE sell-by date. Great for stocking freezer.

Today spent less than $10... $9.94 to be exact. Part of that was the ONLY thing I really went there for... a 5 lb bag of sugar. Two packs of 2 bone-in chicken breasts... Perdue. One pack of 4 country-style pork ribs. That translates to the beginnings for SIX meals for me... probably close to $1.

SIL thinks I'm crazy... I say I'd be crazy NOT to. ANyone else with me!?!
