Jam you can bounce on...

Ever since I stopped using pectin in jams, I've had fairly good luck, along with the occasional batch of "syrup."

Last weekend, I made a cherry habenero jam with bing cherries, sugar, lemon juice, lemon zest and diced habenero. The recipe said to start checking for jel after 20 min, which I did and it was done. The next day, I couldn't even dig out a spoonful from the jar - it is almost solid!

I realize that I can heat it to use it - but what a pain. So my question is, is there any way to fix this? Reboil with more cherries or some type of juice? Taste is right on the money, but the texture is a big turn off.
