I have been on juries before and I actually enjoyed the process. But I know that not everybody feels that way.

Glad to hear that didn't turn into a struggle with the justice system. They can be stubborn about releasing people, at least here in CA. They kept pestering my son even though he lives in another state now.

Murraysmom, I've always gone, but the Doctors say I can't
be around a bunch of new people. My immune system is not
great right now. No movies, no churches, no gardening,
no home shows, craft shows, neighborhood parties,
pot lucks, super bowl parties...etc for a year. LOL
having my son's old laptop and not being able to do a few
things is why i'm online too much! lol

You certainly have a legitimate excuse. I've served twice on juries and found it real interesting. But I am almost 76 now and the courthouse where I would have to serve is about 40miles round trip, so altho I have been summoned several times, I get excused because of my age. If things were different, I would gladly serve again. I hope your health continues to improve, Kat.

That's a long time to be so isolated, Kat, but worth doing for sure. I know you keep yourself busy--thank heavens for computers and the Internet, right? You've always got us (and the birdies)!

I'm over 75 and would you believe that I've never been called for jury duty? I've been registered to vote for as long as I was eligible, and I've only moved to a new state twice in my life. I'd LOVE to be called, mainly just for the experience.

I've been on two juries-both civil cases. Wonderfully interesting. Seeing the court system from "inside." I was called while on kidney dialysis, but got out of serving. Once I was on telephone standby but they never got to my number. Now that I have ny transplant, I'd be willing to serve but I think, with being on immuno-suppressant drugs, I should probably ask to be excused again.

I was called once. About 150 people there, sitting around waiting most of the day. I was picked to continue on. So about 15-20 of us had to go to the front and be questioned by attorneys. I was dismissed! haha.

The defense attorney asked me if I would more or less inclined to believe a police officers testimony just because they were a police office. I told them very honestly, I would truly try to be fair and impartial, but honestly, I would be more inclined to believe a police officer. My brother is a retired police officer, and my husband is a retired corrections officer.

Yeah, they got rid of my fast.

I've been called every single year I've lived here in CA. That's been 11 years straight.

Only served once on a capital murder case...lasted 3+ months.
Was summoned again last year almost to the day we were released from that case. Wasn't picked but sat 4 days thru jury selection. (I think they like me)! Or I'm the least of the evils lol!
I'd been self employed in years past so wasn't able to serve.
I did find the case I sat on over the top interesting.
