men are getting older too

I am very upset, p.o., or just want to pull my hair out. My hubby is 60, his hormonal parts dont always work great either. Geez, even if try to play the Playboy bunny, it doesnt make him younger, I cant help him with that, it is all I can do to look in the mirror somedays. I am truly sorry he cant make himself feel younger, it isnt my job. Is it? Life marches on, I can only pray we make it to the place in our lives where we dont have to wring our hands over how many times we are intimate a month. JUst a few encouraging words girls.

So who is wringing their hands? You, him, or both of you? I kind of feel sympathetic for men when they get to this stage of life. I hate to sound crass, but at least women don't have to be "in the mood" to have sex. Men do. I'm sure it has a major negative effect on their sense of well-being when they just can't do it much anymore. Do you see what I'm getting at? It's probably just as difficult for them to accept this part of themselves as it is for us. At least that's the way I see it.

I suppose the difference between me and my hubby, is I dont blame him for my body not working anymore..... It is easier and saves faces for him to place the blame on me. I have never had a headache in 13 years! I may not lay myself out there with wine, nighties and chocolate, but then again never does he. But this to shall pass. :-)

I had this happen with one of my roses this year. I had planted two Climbing Pinata side by side. Both seemed to take off as well as body bags could over their first year. The grafts on both were buried. It is grafted on Dr. Huey. Last fall, the Manic Mower pushed his god awful Rolling leaf blower into one, breaking it's small canes off, basically to the ground. This year, that plant did begin to send up a new shoot from the graft at the same time as the other Pinata, so I was glad that it seemed to have survived both the winter and the accident. After a couple weeks, it just simply died away. I have dug around the graft a bit and do see that the cane it was attached to is still green at the bottom, ground level and lower. Everything else is brown, but could just be the graft bark I am seeing. I am sure I was not seeing a rootstock sucker, as I did inspect it and saw it was originating from the graft/green cane, not below. I also thought that root growth would see it through, as in never had too much top growth last year, but did show promise. I was thrilled that it sprouted this season, then bummed to see it disappear. Is it dead? Who knows. Green tells me no, but there is so little of it that it could just well be a goner. I have been debating on digging it out and putting it in a pot to see if it can be saved, but perhaps leaving it there to see if it decides to do something later is the better option. The one next to it did shoot up what seem to be two new basals, which are growing well. My Memorial Day struggled for two years and died back to the bottom mid season each year except for one or two tiny canes. The graft was also buried. This I am sure was lack of sun. I was sure she was a goner but this year she shot new growth. Not tall , but growth. I dug her up to discover NO roots aside from what looked to be exactly what she started with when I got her as a grafted bare root. I put her in a pot and then in the ground in a better spot. Though small, only about 8 inches from the ground, her new growth is still healthy, leafy and green. She has not done much, but has not died. :) I have hope she is growing roots again and has just enough top growth to keep her going. As noted on another thread, I think I'll remove her buds this year in the hopes she can recover. That will be hard, the flowers she gave, though few, were beautiful. Cynthia, I took a look at Fantastique on HMFÃ¢ÂÂ¦ I'd be bummed to have lost her, too.

I have to agree, that this is definitely an individual thing. We're older, and I find that because we know our own bodies and each others better, it actually takes LESS stimulation, because we're more skilled?--LOL! If you and your guy are having a problem, please, I urge you to talk to your dr. It might be that there's a medical problem that needs to be addressed. Or it might be that the problem is a side effect of a medication--maybe your dr. can switch to one that has less of a detrimental effect, or maybe he (dr.) can make some good suggestions for coping. But please, don't accept that a lack of interest, or a need for more lengthy stimulation is necessarily a 'normal' thing, until you've looked into the possible medical causes and the helps that are out there. Lavender Lass, I can't exactly speak to the cost/effort of having a garden tub pulled out ... but we did just pull out the tub in our girls' hall bath, and we replaced it with a walk-in shower (equal in size to the old, standard tub). Details: - They removed the old glass doors, tub surround, and plumbing fixtures. We talked briefly about doing the demolition ourselves -- my husband said jokingly, "I can destroy things", but we didn't follow through with that idea. We decided to pay. - They cut the old tub in half (so they could get it out) and threw it out in the yard. They told me that someone would probably steal it and haul it away for scrap, but that didn't happen -- at least I THINK the garbage men took it away. - The flooring underneath was good, but they installed a new concrete shower pan w/ a slope, then nice tile and all new plumbing fixtures and new pipes behind the new tile. They used a standard 3-4" "step over barrier" into the tub. - Finally, they finished it off with a new shower-sized glass door. I couldn't be happier with the results, and my girls like it -- they haven't used the tub since they were small children, and if they "get a hankering", we still have a tub in our bathroom. Total cost: About $2600 ... plus another $150 for tile. We plan to sell this house in another year or so, so I wanted to stay basic and inexpensive on the tile. Our walls are 12x12 in a simple varigated tan, and our floor is a 2x2 mosaic of tan shades -- inoffensive, appealing to buyers, coordinates with the tan tile floor we already had. The shower floor, though smaller than the wall area, made up over half the tile cost -- smaller tiles add up fast! You could easily spend $$$$$$ on tile without even trying. Choosing the larger tiles and a mosaic on mesh saved us money ... because our guys were able to install it faster. Total time: 2 full days They're coming back in early summer to do the same thing to the walk-in shower in my bathroom. If they make this into a slightly smaller version of my girls' shower, I'll be thrilled. I'll do one small thing differently: I'm going to have them install TWO niches (or one larger niche) for more in-shower storage; in retrospect, I wish I'd done that in my girls' bathroom.

Chanop -- great pic! I was never really able to let my older son help when he was little because he has special needs. It's really only this year (he's 9) that he's able to do things even close to properly. If I'd given him a rolling pin before now, he would've swung it around until it broke a window or a nose, or bashed a knob off the range, etc. We could never predict what he was going to do. He also could not follow directions at all ("No" meant nothing to him until about a year ago). I guess that's really what stifled my desire to have my boys in the kitchen. Older son was just too difficult and unpredictable until now. And now, my younger son (6) is a speeding bullet! He vibrates and can't sit still or keep his arms in place. They're always waving around, knocking things over. But your post reminded me of something both my boys have been GREAT at for the past year: making homemade corn tortillas! I roll the balls, and they take turns using the tortilla press. Somehow, there's never been a struggle having them help with that. And...we do that at the island.

Oh, Okay. I think I see what you're getting at. You're not as interested since your hormone levels are down, and he's blaming that for his decrease in "function"? If that's the case, I would be irritated as well. Please tell me to mind my own business if you want, but do you guys have a non-sexual affection for each other? If not, it seems this would make is doubly difficult. I have found that with menopause, my whole attitude toward men is different. I'm interested in them mentally and emotionally, but not in a sexual way at all. I work with a couple of younger men and several younger women. I get amused as I watch their interaction with each other, and realize that when I was young, I was all involved in it too. Personally, I'm glad I'm not there anymore, lol. I kind of enjoy this part of life.

Has he talked to his doctor about it? Has he ever said anything to you about those ED commercials? Maybe that would help him. Is he blaming you? I'm sorry if that is the case. Mens sexuality is such an important part of their being. I'm sure it must be hard on them to change.

Oh his parts work. maybe not like 20 years ago, but they work. why do I have to be the playboy bunny with the cute clothes and he gets to drink beer and eat sausage and expect me to be turned on? I am hear to tell you that if I FOUND out he is using Viagra, my bunny suit is in the trash. Can you tell this is a sore spot with me? I know I should just zip it up LOL( oops caught that before I sent it) I am sorry I am venting, Just tell me poor Shotzy and I will give it up.

Ya just gotta decide, then go with whatever it entails. You make me laugh, but I do understand why you are frustrated with this. Wish I could say something to make it all better.

A woman can fake an orgasm (remember "When Harry Met Sally"_"I'll have what she's having." ? But men can't fake ejaculation. At least that's what my husbsand told me when he wasn't in the mood.
