I use the disposable ones from Costco (Kirkland) and they're great so far. A full thing of peppercorns or sea salts cost about $4, and the containers are grinders, so when they're empty you just get new ones. They've worked perfectly for me so far, and you can set them anywhere between super fine or super coarse grind. The only thing is they're not decorative or pretty by any means.

I've been using the disposables also Nicole. I have them in the Motorhome and in the house.

I got tired of the grinders wearing out.

We've been using a wooden pepper mill that was my Dad's (1960's) it still works just fine. We have one that we received when we purchased our All Clad pots and pans that I keep at the stove, it adjusts fine, medium and course. I don't know the brand. I'll look when I go home.

Here's the one Alton Brown recommends and it's also the one I own and love! You get 2-3x the amount of ground pepper in one turn than most others on the market.

Ceramic mechanisms do not corrode like the metal when grinding salt. I love the Kuhn Rikon vase grinders and they come in several colors.

We have a wooden one that looks like a bottle of wine, the "label" is laser etched. We've been using it for about 25 years now, I use it every single day and never had a problem with it. It has a metal mechanism.

Every salt mill I've ever tried just didn't work well. So we use Diamond Crystal Kosher salt, just keep a little bowl of it on the counter near the stove, next to the pepper mill.
