Me, I do! And I really like mine! Have had it a couple of years now. Use it for:
brown rice, 18 minutes
meat sauce for spaghetti, 15 minutes
chicken pieces, 15 minutes
beef stew, soup, goulash, vegetables, pot roast, etc.

Cleans up so easily! Perfect for 1 to 4 servings. I cooked polenta in it the other night w/o the lid and just soaked it a little while to remove all the sticking polenta - very easy clean-up.

Hmmmm....maybe mine is the 4 qt.? Anyway same pot and I love it. That is a good buy at 44.99.

What kind of pressure valve system is it? Is it the old jiggler kind, or is it a spring valve?

I'd like to get the 8 quart, but 6 should be more than large enough and I can go some canning in it, as well.

I have one of them, actually inherited from my grandmother. I love it; it's a great 'everyday' size. Mine has the old jiggler top, and other than replacing the rubber gasket once or twice, it's in top form!

Alton Brown uses his pressure cook to make beef broth.

I bet it will do a good job of making chicken stock.

Mine is new, but it is a jiggler top. Very easy to operate, just fill the top, but the lid on, turn up burner to high, start timing when top starts rocking, turn burner to low to keep it gently rocking.

Not sure if you will be able to fit jars in a 6 quart. Usually need a larger pressure canner (not pressure cooker) for doing any canning. Check with Annie and/or the Harvest Forum about this question.

The description says that it comes with a food rack that can also be used for canning. I think you can fit half pint, and maybe pint, jars in it. Certainly not quart jars.

You will enjoy it, Cathy! Especially when the weather turns cooler. Ummm.....does it turn cooler "down" there in the fall and winter?

I don't mean to be the wet blanket here, but make sure it has a good gasket. I bought my daughter a 6qt stainless Presto several years ago and had to take it back because the gasket was of such a poor quality. It was the only time ever that I blew up a pressure cooker. If I remember correctly it had some of the safety valves too. If it has a good gasket you'll love a pressure cooker.

I have this exact PC and love it. Works great, perfect size, no problems with the gasket. I think I paid around $50 for it about 3 yrs ago so that's a good price! It's the jiggler kind but that's how my sister's is and she's the one who taught me how to use a PC and how great they are so I went with what she had.

Teresa, thanks for the support! We do get cold weather here, in fact I turned the AC off for 3 days last winter. Burrrrr.

That's the one like I had and the handle broke in two pieces while DH was holding it. The empty pot hit the floor. If it had contained hot liquid or food we would have been scalded. I wrote the company and all they would do was send me a new handle. Why would I even think of using another hollow handle like the one that broke! They definitely were not a consumer friendly company either. The pressure cooker was a new one and had not been used more than eight or ten times. I defintely will never buy another Presto regardless of the price.

I have 3 pc's. My first aluminum Presto jiggler, an updated TFal with no jiggler and two pressure settings in stainless steel and a Bravetti Electronic. Oh and also a very large 27 quart Mirro canner which probably won't be used anymore since we left the country. Anywho, I love pressure cookers, never had a problem, it took a few years until Gene finally dared to use one and even he now uses one occasionally. I probably use the electronic one the most now because it's totally automatic, no guessing, no timing and like they say on tv, just set it and forget it. Gene tends to use the Tfal on the stovetop and the old faithful Presto jiggler well she don't get used much anymore

Despite what the manual says, the smallest recommended pressure cooker/canner I know of is the Mirro 12-quart. A 6-quart is definitely too small for canning.

The problem is the tested processing times have been developed based on canners of a certain size/volume. That safe processing time includes the time at pressure and ALSO the time to come up to pressure and the time to return to zero. In small cookers these times are abbreviated, making the total processing time less than is recommended.
