Of lightening striking the Vatican shortly after the Pope resigned?

The images are amazing, and very thought-provoking.

While we're on the subject, what are your thoughts about the resignation, and the timing of it (at the start of the most important part of the church calendar)?

Catholic or not, the Catholic culture affects the world. For a pope to resign, is an historic event since it's only happened--I think--twice before. Thoughts?

I'm not Catholic, but find this all interesting, and will be fascinated to watch and see how the process procedes--since this time it won't be accompanied by the urgency and grief that usually occur at the same time.
