@Chelsea Binkowski I'm not sure pictures will help you make the choice however I'll take one for you later this week when I'm back at the beach house. The bright white is very white. Benjamin Moore Distant Gray will give you a good idea of how white it is. We used it on the trim, painted the walls SW Sea Salt and the floors are stained gray; the look is very cool and crisp. Our Andersen 400 series windows look drab next to the trim and cabinets. I believe Andersen white matches White Dove paint and Nordic White cabinets. While I love the bright wihite, I sometimes think it's too much, especially when all of the lights are on but it is a large kitchen with lots of cabinets.

flseadog -- Thanks so much. I know what you mean, my memory plays tricks as well. lowspark-- I understand it is confusing. We have Brookhaven Alpine White cabinets. On one wall we have an appliance garage and above it we have a 42 inch wall cabinet. All of our cabinets have a finished maple interior -- except for the appliance garage and the cabinet above it. If you order a glass cabinet -- the interior is white and if you order an appliance gargage the interior tends to be white because the interior of the garage tends to be exposed more regularly. However, the 42" cabinet above our appliance garage has a solid door with a white interior. Since it is next to a cabinet with a maple interior if the two upper cabinets are open at the same time it looks odd and like it was a mistake. I think what happened was originally all the upper cabinets had glass -- so they all would have had white interiors. My DH rejected the glass and requested all solid doors -- the change was made, but now we have three solid cabinets in a row -- two have finished maple interiors and one has a white interior. My question is whether anyone has an appliance gargage with the white interior and an upper cabinet with a maple interior so that when the upper cabinets are opened at the same time it is a consistent look. It may not sound like a big deal, but every person on this job has told us it is wrong and it just looks horrible. So, yes, I am interested in an appliance garage with a white interior (since it tends to sit open -- like glass) and an upper cabinet with a maple interior. If that cannot be done, then we will have to go with all maple for a more consistent look on top -- but there are people on this forum who have or who think they have an appliance garage with a white interior and an upper wall cabinet with a maple interior. I'm trying to confirm whether this is something that either Brookhaven or Wood Mode has done. So, as confusing as it may seem, we would like an appliance garage with a finished white interior -- since it is frequently exposed. And, we would like the interior of the upper cabinet to be maple, so when the cabinets next to it are opened they all look the same. Looking at the piece I have installed right now, it looks like it would be pretty simple to acheive this look.

Brushing or rolling on the paint will NOT have the same sheen and look as sprayed on paint. However, if you have full overlay cabinets, the only time that you will even see the frames is with the doors open, so your comfort level with that is a judgement call. However, your painter should be perfectly comfortable using an HVLP spray gun on site. It has very little overspray, and you'd only need to mask off the counters and adjacent walls and turn off anything that moves air like ceiling fans or AC's. The plastic at the entrances is more to keep out people and keep in the bit of fumes than it is to prevent garbage in the finish. It's not a big deal to do HVLP, and it's what I would expect from a pro rather than a brush job. For the uppers too. I wouldn't spend the extra money on removing them for shop spraying if the room is plasticed off properly to do the lowers. Leave all of the boxes in place and just move the appliances out of the room for a temp kitchen, and make the whole kitchen a spray booth. If he doesn't own a portable air compressor, then it's time to invest in one!

@sewingsher....thanks for responding! A few weeks after my original post, I ended up ordering the Wood-Mode antique white Barcelona door, but with an espresso glaze. That was the only way to achieve the very creamy, not white look I wanted to make things blend with the adjacent dining room. My sample door (the third I had to order!!) is just perfect in the surroundings, and I am very pleased with it. There are lots of moldings, and I ordered the "cove-like" drawers. Re: your Q on countertop selection--Although AB granite had been my first choice last summer, before I settled on Wood-Mode even, my eyes were opened from comments on this forum about the high levels of maintenance deemed necessary for AB, honed or not. Fingerprints, etc. So that idea went bye-bye months ago. After many, many visits to granite yards and tile shops, I came to the conclusion in the past week that what really, really works for me is (gasp) wood, specifically Black Walnut, treated with Waterlox (I think that's it). The dark wood perfectly picks up the glazing details in that ornate door. For the backsplash, I've found the PERFECT (if highly unaffordable) hand-made "molded clay" duotoned tile in a sort of Arabesque pattern, in relatively high relief. It's made by Architerra out of Austin, Texas, I think. The two colors are copper and cumin, making it a rich antique-looking chocolate. Yummy! I have an electronic picture of these three things all together, but have never posted a photo because I don't know how. Wish I could, it's spectaular. If my surroundings would have accommodated the antique white without the glazing, I think I would have gone with soapstone. Have you investigated that? It would be gorgeous. Which door did you pick? When is the install? My demo is scheduled to start February 2.
