If you have Brookhaven Alpine White...
Comments (5)ebse blakey used Wood-Mode cabinetry in "Alpine" white, which is the same as BrookhavenÂs, I think. I am also considering Brookhaven cabinetry in "Alpine" white, but am not close to making a final decision, yet. Below are a couple webpages you might find helpful (I am new at this and donÂt know how to link them!): "Finished Kitchen-warm white cabs, marble, wood counters": http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/kitchbath/msg031658407596.html?68 I noticed "Debbick's Kitchen" in the Finished KitchenÂs Blog also has Wood-Mode cabinetry in "Alpine" white: http://finishedkitchens.blogspot.com/2005/06/debbicks-kitchen.html...See MoreSW Antique White too yellow for cabs -better choice?
Comments (2)If you're looking for a creamy white, the BM Aura color 'marscapone' is pretty. Shows a creamy cast in my house, not yellow or grey. I looked at BM calming cream, and Linen white but both have a greyish cast in my kitchen light. I tried BM mayonnaise and was torn between that and BM vanilla ice cream - going with the vanilla ice cream I believe - creamy undertones on both. I bought the smallest amount of each and painted wood pieces and lined them up in various places in my kitchen during different times of the day. Kind of hard to decide what looks like what in your kitchen when the new lighting isnt even in :-)...See MoreAnyone with Wood-Mode antique white painted maple?
Comments (2)@sewingsher....thanks for responding! A few weeks after my original post, I ended up ordering the Wood-Mode antique white Barcelona door, but with an espresso glaze. That was the only way to achieve the very creamy, not white look I wanted to make things blend with the adjacent dining room. My sample door (the third I had to order!!) is just perfect in the surroundings, and I am very pleased with it. There are lots of moldings, and I ordered the "cove-like" drawers. Re: your Q on countertop selection--Although AB granite had been my first choice last summer, before I settled on Wood-Mode even, my eyes were opened from comments on this forum about the high levels of maintenance deemed necessary for AB, honed or not. Fingerprints, etc. So that idea went bye-bye months ago. After many, many visits to granite yards and tile shops, I came to the conclusion in the past week that what really, really works for me is (gasp) wood, specifically Black Walnut, treated with Waterlox (I think that's it). The dark wood perfectly picks up the glazing details in that ornate door. For the backsplash, I've found the PERFECT (if highly unaffordable) hand-made "molded clay" duotoned tile in a sort of Arabesque pattern, in relatively high relief. It's made by Architerra out of Austin, Texas, I think. The two colors are copper and cumin, making it a rich antique-looking chocolate. Yummy! I have an electronic picture of these three things all together, but have never posted a photo because I don't know how. Wish I could, it's spectaular. If my surroundings would have accommodated the antique white without the glazing, I think I would have gone with soapstone. Have you investigated that? It would be gorgeous. Which door did you pick? When is the install? My demo is scheduled to start February 2....See MoreDo you have Brookhaven frameless cabinets?
Comments (7)Brookhaven has a limited lifetime warranty. The KD I'm working with says Brookhaven has been good about honoring warranty repairs for her customers. http://www.wood-mode.com/page/brookhaven-lifetime-limited-warranty It does have the usual exclusions: abuse, misuse, environmental conditions, improper install, modifications, etc. Compare the quality of the drawer hardware and hinges with the lower priced options. Ask your dealer if Brookhaven includes drawer pulls/hardware which could save you $300+. Finally, a 10-15% difference in a preliminary quote is within the margin of error if you've gone to multiple kitchen designers. Hard to say which will be cheapest once the final design is done and all necessary parts have been included in the estimate. When you are down to the last 10-15% I'd go with the KD who has good ideas, listens to you, offers constructive feedback, is patient, and comes across as detail oriented....See MoreILoveRed
