Should I get divorce?

Hi all,

I'm very confused about my feelings to my husband. We got married 10 months after we have met. It has been 2 and half years since we got married. We got into Manu fights about money and recently too. I have a strong feeling we are different people. I don't want to have kids and be stuck with my husband as it will always connect us and I won't be able to leave my child. I was pregnant before and was really happy and in love, unfortunately I had miscarriage. My husband demands a baby now every day and is very sad that we don't have a child. I'm going to school and want to wait another 2-3 years. I'm 26 and he is 31. I have bigger goals and ambitions in my life whereas my husband doesn't share those goals with me. He is all about saving and doesn't even go out with me to have fun and only does it to make me happy.
I wonder if I med my real love? What is love? How do I know that the person who is sleeping next to me and wants the best for me and our family is the person who I can spend the rest of my life with? Do I accept him as he is or I should be strong and move on?
I have crush on other men all the time. I can't stop thinking about this guy who is married and have 2 kids, he is here alone. He tried to kiss me and I said not because I'm married and you too. I'm not a cheater but then this guy really makes me excited and I want him. I'm not a home wrecker. Please help me!
Should I get a divorce and move on with my life and explore things that I want to do? I feel like I got married so early not knowing that it's a huge responsibility. I'm not even ready to stay married now. I don't put my husband in first place. There is no sexual desire from my side ( I think of another men when we are having sex) I'm very sad and don't know if I would make the right decision by getting a divorce. I'm scared to be divorcee. Help help help!

If you get a divorce do not marry again until you mature a bit or you will be in the same situation again.

uwgirl, you may be too young to be married and your husband may not be the right person. I agree that getting a divorce now is better than after you have children. Also agree with Emma, but will say it even stronger. While you are waiting for your divorce, you should be in therapy to help you figure out what went wrong so that you don't repeat it. You also should not be dating at all while waiting for your divorce. You don't want your husband to say you left him for another man. Give yourself time to heal and learn what is important to you.

Well, it seems there is something larger and more ominous at work here. The trees in our yard, almost all of the oaks, are dead or dying. There must be something like 8 or 9 totally dead and that many more now in various stages of disease. They all seem infested with galls once they finally keel over, but I have read that galls don't kill a tree and assume then that this is a consequence of the disease and not a cause. We procrastinated about having the service come in and take the hazard trees out and now I am glad we did because it's going to be an ongoing thing. I guess the only recourse is to call someone from the agricultural extension office about coming out to check for blight or oak wilt or something, and from what I have read about these diseases there is really not much that can be done. Like I have mentioned before, our yard is not like a tree here and a tree there interspersed with grass---it's nothing BUT trees. 20 acres of them to be exact. But that's getting ready to change because regardless of the cause, when these dying ones are down the canopy is sure going to be different. I've become a shade-loving creature and that will certainly be a big change. I wonder what is happening here. And if it's oak wilt,any diseased tree can pass the pathogen on to the next through the roots, so we could possibly be looking at a huge loss of trees here.

It does suck. My wife cheated on me, but I was no day at the beach either. I compartmentalized my marriage as I do with many aspects of my life. I focused on the woman I first married and minimized the mess. It's hard and took a while (6 months was about right for me). I learned to laugh about the cheating because it beats crying. I don't mean laugh to cover up sadness, but to really see how silly it all is. To compartmentalize the mess part I created one catch phase that I could tell friends if needed, but mostly to tell myself. "She's 300 lbs and living in a trailer." I don't really know what happened to my x and I have no interest because in my head she's 300 lbs and living in a trailer. Pain is the brain dwelling on an event trying to make sense out of something that makes no sense. So I gave my brain an answer...she was dumb and is now 300 lbs and living in a trailer. Visually she's sitting at a kitchen table in a moo-moo smoking and drinking disgusting coffee. Took some training but brain seems pretty happy having an answer and after a while I had no desire to stalk her to see what she was doing, no desire to connect again and try one more time. I have the memory of marrying a great woman, super hot (I even make her more hot in my head), but then she changed into a moron, 300 lbs, and living in a trailer. The appeal faded. The catch phrase also help cut short talking about the mess. The mess is the mess, nothing to be done about that. No amount of talking is going to provide any insight. Cheating is just plain dumb for all parties. Your husband is now with someone who wants to live with a cheater. So lucky her. He will again and he gets to relive this nightmare over and over, so lucky him. That's their mess. Your mess is over, no reason to dwell on that silly crap so I never really wanted to rehash it for friends and family. I'd say the catch phrase, friends did their duty to ask, and we moved on to a more interesting subject. Therapists...if you really need to. I've been to therapists with partners. Some are good, some not. They can be a crutch too. It can be just one more place to dwell and vent. Use caution. Lawyers are there to make money. Use caution trusting what they say. You are the only one responsible for your best interests. Never turn that over to anyone else because it's an illusion. Once again brain trying to trick you. Dumb old brain. Stay away from booze and other drugs. This isn't the time to get dumb. I didn't date for 6 months from the time the divorce was final, no matter who came along. Figured anyone who would date someone in that state wasn't someone I'd be interested anyways. At one point I was considering ending it all...but then I kind of reviewed things and thought "anything I should do first?" I always wanted to going fishing on Great Bear lake...so I should do that first. At that moment a switch flipped...how silly this whole drama was. Many people do go do lots of new stuff, and whatever works is great. But it may be dreaming of stuff is enough to fill your mind with new adventure. I never went to Great Bear lake. Didn't need to. I learned a lot from my failed marriage. Worked on myself (I needed it, not saying you do, but who can't stand with a little improvement) and became a much better husband. I did marry again and have had a great marriage for 15 years. I'm so thankful my x cheated on me. I'd send her a carton of cigarettes and a box of Ding Dongs if I knew what trailer park she was living in.

but prof. nice guy didn't ask about staying or leaving... exactly. He said he wanted to meet a woman who was more fun *& that his therapist encouraged him to do so*. which sounds like a lie. In fact, his initial post reads a little like a singles ad ("my sisters-in-law describe me as 'funny & sweet'", "I want to meet a woman who likes to laugh", etc) His request for 'advice' reads a lot like he's fishing for permission/approval/blessing,("it would be nice to keep my marriage but be emtionally close to someone, too") Snort! & his statement that his wife is willing to have sex without emotional involvement but he wants the involvement sounds really really strange, since it's backwards to what usually happens (woman wants emotional closeness, man willing to have sex without it). like he made it up & he's seeing what response it'll get. One of the worst experiences of my life was many years ago, when I was young & inexperienced & a married man caused me a lot of aggravation, but, as a result, my "married man on the prowl" detector still works pretty well:. I had been dating this guy for several weeks when I learned that he was married. only, as he said, since it didn't have anything to do with what went on between us, he didn't think he needed to mention it. He saw nothing wrong with lying to me, lying to his wife, complicating my life, his wife's life, his children's lives, heck, he wasn't worried about complicating *anybody's* life, as long as he could have dinner/clean house/charming children...& dates. It was degrading to be manipulated & lied to like that, it was mortifying to discover that I was the "other woman", & it was humiliating to extricate myself from the situation & answer the questions my friends asked about the "new guy" I had been so happy about. but the guy sort-of mentally shrugged & decided that I was just as crazy/needy/irrational as his wife, *since I was having a good time*... until I found out about this little bit of (irrelevant & superfluous) information. This is a married man on the prowl, looking for approval/justification, & he posted this to see what kind of objections he'd get, so he can refine his approach to the next "woman who likes to laugh" that he runs into in the real world. betcha.

IMO the house and the kitchen are modern and your style is not so a few tweaks are needed to make this work. !st take all the stugff that screams old fashioned like the display cabinet, the table along the wall the stuff on the mantel the morror and take the art down for now. Then get rid of the 2 red chirs and the rug , Now you have a bit of a clean slate to work with. I think the sofa is fine and maybe the 2 chirs with the ottomans. A new coffeee table ans arug with a bit more modern pattern in colors with a bit of gray Larger end tables with much larger lamps in a bit more modern style. If what you want to keep is the rug then keep it and build the new design around it with new furniture a bit more modern looking still keep all the other stuff out , I need to see a close up of the rug to make suggestions as to colors of new pieces .

Very wise words...the OP would be wise to listen, but probably won't. No one ever thinks they need to get themselves in a good place before they date....seen it a zillion times.

Oh and colorcrazy, you said "You don't want your husband to say you left him for another man", not sure if it is different from state to state or anything, but it likely has no bearing on anything. I am in NY, and my ex cheated on me 2X and for all practical purposes left me for the 2nd guy...my lawyer told me it has no impact on anything to do with the divorce, not division of assets, not alimony/child support (unless she married him eventually), not custody. Again, might not be the case everywhere, but I suspect many states are this way.

What happened to the guy you were pregnant by and so in love with? Were you married to him?

Your husband deserves more than what you are giving him (love, for one thing). Divorce him, grow up, consider another relationship only when you are prepared for it.

Please be careful because once you have a baby, everything changes. I think you are smart to want to finish your education and have bigger plans for your future. Don't let another person take charge of your life, it's yours to live.

Coming in late here, but what about marriage counseling first...for both of you? I would try everything before walking away...only then will you know you made the right decision. There might just be a chance here to save the marriage..but you will never know until you put some work in and get objective advice from a good marriage counselor.

Yes, you married too quickly and too young. DO NOT have children unless and until you are on totally solid ground within the marriage.

If you do decide to divorce....do not get involved with anyone for a long while. Focus on finishing school and and landing a job. Hopefully, by then you will have dones some maturing and will have a better chance of a successful relationship.

I'm with Scarlett and Sylvia.

You had a miscarriage and your husband demands a baby every day? That is horrible. I can see how that could change your feelings about your spouse. Yes, I would divorce. And finish school and follow up on your bigger plans in life.

Please do not have a baby right now. Figure out what it is you want to do and do it. Decide what it is you want out of a relationship and don't settle for less. Don't let anyone crush your dreams. Life is too short.

Two things.

Yes, it sounds like you might have gotten married a little young.

You can stay married or get a divorce: either way, you will be okay.

That said, once you get over 30 or 35, you may want to have kids and get married again. You will probably find another guy just like your husband. Why not save yourself some trouble?

If he's a good guy, I say stick it out.

Marriage is difficult at any age.

You will never find a man who makes you happy. That is your job. Thousands of arranged marriages have turned out well not because of chemistry, but because two people were committed and made the best they could. Every marriage has ups and downs and if you get divorced just because you aren't excited any more, you will have many ex-husbands. It sounds like you have already checked out of your marriage though, and maybe your husband should be set free so he can find someone who wants him. Definitely before you have kids. If your troubles are financial I strongly recommend both you, together, take a personal finance class like "Financial Peace University." It has brought many couples together on financial issues and saved many a marriage.
