We used armstrong brand vinyl plank in our condo that is also a vacation rental. Love it very durable. I would choose it again over a laminate. Very easy to put down, matter of fact I laid most of it myself (1200 sq ft) My sister has the Home Depot line of vinyl planks in her house and she also loves it.

just had the allure installed with a budget kitchen remodel. so far, so good! my GC had recommended it, a floor guy for 20 years, and he was/is impressed with it. i used the higher end cherry as i was looking for a color match to the oak floors in the other rooms.

i have no comment to give on the durability...but it is guaranteed for life in residential settings.

so far...so good. i like the "cushioning" it gives after having the 70's blue floor tile when we bought this place in june. ;)

the only issue was make sure they click together...we had one that kept missing. of course we had none left so another box had to be bought. probably a good thing for "just in case" down the road. ;)

So glad you posted, I've been investigating vinyl plank flooring myself. My dentist put the Amtico brand down in his office a year or so ago and it is fabulous!!! That's probably what I'll go with, it's got good reviews online. Can't help you on install, as I'll be hiring that out, but I've read it's fairly intuitive.

I have Amtico but it's glued down, not clicked together. It has been down since 2004 and is still in excellent shape.

We have both high end (congoleum product--Duraplank glue down) and the low-end allure...we don't have the click and lock, but the allure with the strips. The high-end we paid to have installed, the allure we DIY'd. I like both. The Duaraplank is in a high-traffic area and is wearing well. The allure floors are in a low-traffic area and are also wearing well. I've not have seam separation issues that some describe with the allure...but we also followed the directions TO THE LETTER and have a nice, dry basement...
