How do you know who has been on your page? do you have to change settings to show who has been there?

I don't know how to tell that. I'll watch this and see what other Facebookers say.

if you set your security settings for friends only then friends can only see your page...other than people searching for you, they can see whatever you have set as your profile pic. ~ liz

I think it's even more detailed than that. You can select for each person what kind of update you are shown. Then you can go to your preferences and choose not to see people's stories about games they played and/or block aps that you don't use that keep showing up with news stories. Tell him to poke around in the preferences/settings as well as "editing" that particular person. Unfortunately, there's no way to block some of the stuff, like "I'm going to bed now." And "I just ate some toast that didn't agree with me." Ugh! I hate these kinds of posts.

Go to Settings, then Name It gives you the option to change it. In the last name field, just change it to Jones. I'm not sure I'm understanding about the (Ann Smith) in parentheses...do you want that to actually show? If so, I'm not sure how to get it to do that, other than add that to the last name field. Maybe someone else will know.

i have it set so anyone can see my page, but need to know who has been there to look at my page... i think there is something you can click on to see who has been there and dates

Deb, I think that is an app on the wishlist for some. Not sure if it will ever happen though. And I'm sure if it does, there will be an "unvisit" option for the lurker/visitor like they offer on Classmates.com.

I don't know if there is some way to block it, but I can click on a friend listed on my friend's page who I am not a friend of, but if I click on their photos section I can see their pictures even though I can't read any of their messages.

there is no such thing as a "see who was there" option
Anyone that you do NOT want to view your page,you block,simple as that.
Only "friends" can view info on you.
Go to your settings in privacy and adjust accordingly
If there is something on your HOME page that you do not want to view yourself,at the end of each BOLD sentence there is the word HIDE..click it...and either hide the info on that page of that individual,or the app that they are posting.
At the bottom of the HOME page is EDIT OPTIONS...click that and change whatever you choose to in there as well.

But,the most important part for you to learn about is the PRIVACY settings..take your time in there and follow the settings.

deb what you want is listed as an app but it does not function as advertised and instead collects data on you and your friends only. as jodi mentioned any app that would ever function that way would definitely have the ability to disable being found out. FB eats up an already insane amount of storage space and i doubt they will ever have the true ability to trace searches as that would require every search be stored and able to be referenced. the amount of space requirred for that is not possible on any free service. it is also my understanding they, FB, have yet to make $$ and do not project profits for yrs yet. no profits=no serious expansion. marygail what you are talking about involves the privacy settings i mentioned above. the photos you are able to see are able to be seen by friends of friends. i am psychotic about my photos, as i take what i think are fabulous pics but i do not trust anyone to have them on their website, like FB. i put up only the ones i don't care about, those of publishing quality are not up :-) not even to just friends lol and i have never posted any of those here ~ liz
