Cilantro, milk, and sweet potatoes/yams

Dark meat, especially liver (gag!) and most shellfish. I also have a hard time with bitter melon (I've forgotten its proper name.)

mushrooms. There are foods that I would prefer not to eat but mushrooms I won't eat.

Liver is #1 on my list.

And tomatoes -- but excluding spaghetti sauce, ketchup and for some reason picante sauce/taco sauce/salsa, because they all have other stuff (like corn syrup, I'm sure) that covers up the natural taste of tomatoes.

But fresh sliced tomatoes? Ick!

I won't eat meat or bell peppers. I dislike raw tomatoes but can pick around them. That's pretty much it!

Canned green vegetables.

Okra, eggplant, quinoa, limburger cheese (and sometimes blue cheese) and head cheese. Never had mutton but I don't like lamb and I've tried it more times than I want to admit. Don't like onions and green peppers in a breakfast dish, but they're okay the rest of the day. I know I've forgotten stuff.

liver, brussels sprouts, beets, pickles, anchovies, beef that's not well done, sushi, lima beans, jello, caviar, peas, tripe or "innards" of any type.

Octipus and okra. Please don't tell me that I "just haven't had it fixed right yet ", because no matter what you do to either one of those foods, I won't like it. :-)

Those are in the 'hate ' category, which is a word I don't use lightly. There are lots of foods that I don't like but would eat if someone made a special batch for my birthday, or something. My SIL's version of ham loaf comes to mind. How can someone turn one of my all time favorite dishes into something that does not want to go down my throat? It's a mystery to me.

I have not tried some of the foods listed, but I do dislike canned waxed beans.

It took me fifty years to overcome my dislike of tomatoes after my grandmother forced Baby Sue to swallow those slimy, seedy, stewed, red things. (Threw up on her.)

Okra and green peppers are too 'soapy' for me. I like beef liver, but not the mushier veal liver. It's a 'mouth feel' thing. Don't like caviar, anchovies or other strongly flavored -- and weirdly textured -- foods. Oysters and clams come to mind too. One bite of egg with shell or fish with bones and I Am Done. Wonder why I DO like most casseroles...also 'soft' food.

The only thing I can think of is fermented soy bean paste my mom used to eat. It smelled like what I imagine rotting dead bodies smell like.

I kinda don't use the word "hate" either and can honestly say that I eat almost anything. Some things that I avoid are liver and sweetbreads.(organ meats) and meat, shell fish, clams and slimy veggies like okra. There are plenty I just don't eat; I think listening to your body and making choices about what one eats is an important practice.... at least it has worked for me in my 78 years. For instance, I never have "done" dairy..(that includes sour cream in foods, dips and whipped cream etc.).. and suspect my aversion is probably necessary.... but then I do like that bit of cheese on a taco or sandwich, and an ice-cream cone on a hot day. Go figure!

I detest only one thing.....Brussels sprouts! I even ate black pudding and haggis while in Scotland, and have eaten lutefisk. Haggis was OK, and I don't detest the other two, would just never eat them again, probably. But Brussel sprouts, never!

Patti, I didn't know what head cheese is and once I looked it up I recognized it as something my mother would keep in the house for lunches when we were little.

O M G !! I can't uneat it but I sure hate it, retroactively!

Green peas are number one on my list. My first grade teacher made me eat a spoonful and I threw up.

For me this thread should be what foods do you like. I am not a good eater. Most foods I will not touch. I cook them but will not eat them.

Don't eat veggies, eggs, cheese, fish of any kind, I would guess 95% of food I don't eat.

What's interesting here is that a number of foods are mentioned frequently. Glad to see that others are beet and brussels sprouts adverse, too!

Oysters Rockefeller are cooked, not raw. I think oysters are better raw.

Many of these lists include some of my favorite things. Shows you how tastes vary from person to person.

Those of you listing Brussels sprouts and beets really gave me a chuckle, I often make them together, roasted in the oven with a hint of olive oil and salt. The heat brings out the natural sugars and flavors. Yummy. Those who don't like red beets might prefer the yellow ones, they're also a bit less messy to peel and clean.

I like pickled beets, lima beans, baby peas but not the big mushy ones, most green vegetables but not Brussels sprouts. (How did Brussels get landed with those sprouts anyway?)

One of DH's coworkers wouldn't eat canned creamed corn after working one summer in a hot, fly-ridden canning factory. (He claimed there was more than just corn in there.)

Loin lamb chops are my favorite meat -- not 'Frenched', nor with paper frou-frous. Medium rare, please. I also love leg of lamb prepared with salt, lemon juice and rosemary or spread with a paste of vinegar and dry mustard before roasting. Hold the mint sauce.

I like my eggs 'over easy' with unset yolks. I also like soft boiled and poached -- neither has set yolks.

Do you know any otherwise normal people (older than ten) who have a fit if different foods *touch* one another on the plate? Anyone who eats all of one thing at a time?

Creamed corn or canned peas will set off my gag reflex in a heartbeat. Even if I'm on another floor and hubby is in the kitchen.

olives, asparagus, lamb. I know there's more but those are at the top of my head.

that's what I meant by "like Rockefeller" as in
"I like" oysters cooked.... or better yet shucked right onto the
barbeque.
I'll add I don't like calamari.
And, I can't swallow cottage cheese... it's a texture thing.
But, I'll eat or try most anything.
We buy brussel sprouts still on the stalk when we
can find them. They're the freshest and last longer.

There are lots of foods I won't eat, but the ones that makes me gag, just thinking about them, are wild game meats of any kind! I grew up eating fish (uck), squirrel, rabbit, geese, ducks, mud hens - OMG, keep me away from those!

I also will not touch Japanese, Chinese or any oriental foods - the smell alone makes me sick.

Most squash (think acorn squash). I want to like it, I really do. But the smell, and the strings! I can't make myself put it in my mouth.

Sometimes I like butternut, and chiogga pureed and made into gnocchi is very good. But no way with sugar on it - the thought makes me grab my neck LOL!

Quinoa. I am trying, I really am. But it smells like bitter grass.

I don't eat meat but I love seafood. I also like most of the veggies that most of you list. I don't like cauliflower. So many mention brussel sprouts. I used to dislike them and then a friend suggested I buy some fresh ones, cut them in half and saute in butter and garlic. Now i love them fixed that way.

Brussels sprouts are one of my favorites - a real treat (of course, they must be prepared correctly, not steamed to mush!).

Hate? Well, that is a strong word but canned creamed corn and especially canned peas are right up there.

Funny story about runny egg yolks.
When I was in college my mom was living in a different city and I was home with my very sweet and soft-hearted dad.
I was sick in bed with bronchitis and my dad offered to fix me breakfast in bed.
He brought a tray with toast and two soft boiled eggs. I didn't want to hurt his feelings so I choked them down.
Next day, I was still home from school and daddy heard me awake and a few minutes later he brought in the same breakfast as the day before.
I choked it down once again and decided I would go back to school even if I felt awful.
He never did know how much I hated runny egg yolks.

Beef liver.

My mom, who was Japanese, used to eat raw eggs over rice with that nasty soy bean paste sometimes, and soy sauce. I love over easy eggs over rice with soy sauce. It's comfort food.

Raw cucumbers and watermellon. Cucumbers are hard to digest; I'm burping those things 2 hours after eating those. As a child, i got very sick on watermellon and could not tolerate it for many years afterward. Now, I can eat a few bites if I stop at that, but the tastes becomes repulsive as I approach my limit. I like the taste of musk mellon, but have to limit how much I eat to head off an upset stomach.

Stuffing, dressing, French toast. I don't like wet bread.

A lot of the foods listed I have never even tried, haha.

I don't know if hate is the right word, but if it is, I hate liver. I have tried it, a couple times, I can't get it down without heaving. Literally. I would eat it if I was starving, that's it.

Oh, and sardines, the smell along chases me from the room.
