When I think of a parlor for women, I think of lace panels, especially with dark wood. For a men's parlor I see deep green curtains.

Sure, oakleyok. Don't know why I didn't think of that. I'm always the first one to ask for pictures. Can you tell how much I'm stressing over this?

Here's a bit more info to. Our home is a Queen Anne style Victorian Revival with wide wood work (not yet finished in the LP) that is more transitional from VICs to Craftsman than it is VIC. Our lifestyle just doesn't call for VIC style furnishings so we have nothing like that.

Here's the room itself taken shortly after hubby installed floors and ruined one of my expensive ;) vinyl mini blinds I bought because it would have cost even more to buy sheets for all the windows until we knew what we wanted.

That's a telephone cord you see wiggled across the floor and the library with the angled wood floors.

LOL! No not them Lori, I'm still going to make them. In fact with hubby's help in getting other things started around here it might even be this year! Please don't fall over now. But then I guess you know better than that since we've been in this home for over six years not. I'm sure you stopped holding your breath a long long time ago. LOL. Love ya Lori!

I think the OSNABURG looks like a soft muslin which is timeless...go for it~
Can you use pins or fabric glue for the OTHER panels to speed up the process, lol??

Lori, you are talking to a seamstress here. No glue will even put together sometime I can sew. Sorry. Part of it is fear of cutting the fabric. I can't get anymore of it.

I am getting closer though and hubby is helping me through my stressing too. My fault about all this since I'm just now learning my needs are important too. I am so not the woman I was before I married and became a Mom. Never will be that one again, though closer in weight would be kind of nice, I am beginning to learn to "roar" again. Not getting political here, but Sarah Palin is my kind of woman. One that can be a Mom and still have a voice without fear. Just read her book and I wanna read it again. Really gives a woman the right to have it all!

How about doing the Osnaburg (which I love), with banding in either a solid color or that leaf print that you love? Buy a couple of panels and cut them up to make the banding.

I'm confused....you're going MCM in a victorian ladies parlor???? Am I not getting it????? Is this an MCM house and I just don't understand?

I missed the middle of one of your posts...it is a victorian but I see what you mean about the transitional (those window frames are very cool by the way).

Have you considered something to bridge the two like a rich velvet but done in really basic panels so you have a nod to the victorian, nod to the simplicity of MCM. perhpas in a rich color like a deep wine, green, etc? I think more of the burgundy tones for a ladies parlor but even a deep tan, gold or ivory done right would give you that nod to each period and perhaps blend two periods that don't normally like to talk to each other :)

Les, I thought about buying four of the panels and then getting another fabric for the rest of the panel but I don't think the weight, though I'm not certain, of the osnaburg would work with the Canyon Leaves.
igloochic, sorry I confused you. I'm just extremely eclectic, I guess. I love the layout and bones of a farm house style Victorian. The rich stained wide woodwork, lots of rooms and long turning hallways. I've just never lost my love for the wonders of the mid-century home furnishings and decor either. We'll see if I can pull this off.
I called my hubby earlier and in our conversation the cost of the Canyon Leaves panels came up. He thought that each window was going to be forty dollars over the whole budget. No wonder he didn't say go ahead and get them. Not that he said much of anything. News flash, never talk to a man when he's doing anything else even if you think you have his attention. You probably don't.
So now what I need to do is decide for sure what color to get. I'm starting from scratch on this room other than the furniture of course. I'm talking color wise. The furniture will be stained a dark walnut though. That I'm sure about.
I do need help in what of the color choices below do you think looks most MCM?
