Walk-in closet lighting?

Can anyone recommend a light for a walk-in closet? It is almost 12 feet long, so the light has to get to the back. I am not a big fanof "cloud" light fixtures, but I do need a closed light and the fluorescent does seem to be the way to go.It has to be a closed light, to meet code. Any ideas are appreciated.

Clouds put off a lot of light. Perhaps a skylight would be good. Or a huge 4 bulb Ceiling Light. That would look like a regular light, but with CFL's inside you'd be getting a lot of light from it.

Only an incandescent fixture is required by code to have an enclosed lamp (bulb) in a closet, not a fluorescent fixture. You will get the most even light distribution in a 12 ft closet with two surface mounted fixtures of whatever lamp type and color balance you prefer.

Along with lights, having a socket is nice too. I have turned my large master closet into a china storage/craft room. I will be plugging in my sewing machine and lamp, plus a fan. My smaller master closet is my dressing room and I also plan on putting a table fan in there. My closet lights are not florescent, so will be interested to see what the electricians say here.

Is it weird / noticeable to use a clear shade for the entry when all the other ones are frosted/opal? Love the shape of that foyer light and was thinking of doing an Edison bulb for that location as it's pretty small (4x4) and you can see it from the living room

I think two light fixtures are perfect for a closet. I have two in mine and our closets are similar sizes. I have them on dimmers so I can control the intensity of the lights. I have recessed light but would recommend the newer LED thin recessed light fixtures. I have these in my hallway from Lotus LED. They come in different sizes and configurations. They run $60- $80 each. Very easy to install. Good luck!

Okay thank you for responding. We do have LEDs in the ceiling and lamps but not sure if they are 4000k. I will try to take some pictures and put them on. But in general do/should all of the walls be the same color between the bedroom, walk through and walk in closet?
