How did you do this???? I'm still getting underlined things.

Susan, on the main KT page you'll see (in red) Please read this important announcement abouto new advertising. If you click on "important announcement" you'll go to a screen where you can opt out of the advertising. Maybe it'll work better for you than it did for me.

Still with the ads after the opt out Me Too . Though I won't be using any of the mouse over ad products because I really just don't like mouse over ads AT ALL.

I opted out and I am still getting the highlighted words with the garbage that pops up. The ads aren't even related to the topic.

It only makes a person NOT wish to buy the products. Sort of like all those Netflix pop-ups.

Have you closed out of the browser and reopened it (I am sure you have)

Do you have your computer set to accept cookies?

Do you clear your cookies?

You have to keep a cookie from them that disables the underlined text ads....

I opted out and it is working fine for me.

Please note that if you should delete or refresh your cookies the service will be re-activated automatically.

So what's the point? It's endless. I just ignore and steer clear.

There are several browsers to chose from: Chrome, Opera, Firefox being among the most popular. It is not Rocket Science to use a different browser.

We make choices every day about such things as which way to hang the TP. Don't be held hostage by a nuisance browser.

I guess I should take cover now.

Why do you assume we're all using the same nuisance browser? I use only Firefox. I was going to download Chrome when I switched to Windows 7, but I heard too many complaints.

Sue, I have IE, Chrome, Opera, and Firefox. Right now I am using FF. I have not closed the browser nor have I deleted cookies nor cleared my cache or anything since opting out. Sure, it is not rocket science, but it is beyond me how to remedy this. I have resigned to just give up hope on the matter.

I originally was going to let it ride and accept the ad links figuring that since this is a free site that I should tolerate it. But they are soooo annoying and useless.

In the past I have occasionally clicked on a side bar ad that looked like it would be of interest to me, but these links don't tell you where they are going and they don't pertain to anything relevant. At least with the sidebar ads you know where you are going when you click them.

I am never going to click on a highlighted word link again.

Thanks, Terri. I don't see any way to do that in Firefox, although there probably is and I just don't know about it.

Susan, my comments were to try to get some people to help me to understand why they won't make a change and eliminate what is obviously a nuisance to them. You mentioned something that Terri suggested for FF. What is that? I use FF so if I know how to do what ever it is I'll post it here.

There have been numerous threads about the ads and how to get rid of them. In another thread I posted a link to CompHelp where there is good information on just that topic. I don't know if anyone used that or not.

Dilly, and kat__wa , you are using Firefox; have you added the Adblock Plus add on and Rick's Easy List as recommended in the thread at Comp Help?

Sue, I clicked on the link Terri posted in this thread (a few posts above), and read the following instructions:

I think I've figured out how to get rid of Bing/Vibrant on any website -- at least in IE.

In the browser menu, go to Tools
Select Internet Options
Select the Security Tab
Select Restricted Sites
Click on "Sites" button
Enter everything after this colon: *.us.intellitxt.com

I subsequently read the rest of info Terri linked, and found the suggestion to download AdBlock.

Susan, I had looked at Teri's link and saw that it referred to IE. I don't use IE, so I closed out there.

Did you get the AdBlock Plus, and also the Rick's Easy List? Have the ads stopped?

I don't know a lot about all this computer stuff; I do trust what I read at CompHelp. I go there every day and check to see if there is something new that I need to take heed of.
