Ann, I sent you an email a couple of weeks ago with some questions about Vancouver Island. I think I might have sent it to the wrong address, though. Anyway, we will be wandering up that way in the next couple of weeks and we were wondering if it is worth driving north of Victoria to Campbell River, and over to Gold River? Also, what about the west coast of the island? Or should we just spend more time in the San Juan Islands? We have 16 days, but will spend some of it in Seattle and a couple in Portland.

Next year Charles and I are thinking about a vacation to Seattle, Victoria and then a cruise around Alaska. I'll be calling you Ann! LOL!

My jealous is overwhelming! I was in Victoria in 1997 for five days, but that was before I knew about the CF! Victoria is a seriously beautiful place. If I ever win the lottery, that's where I'll retire.

I enjoyed going to Murchie's Tea shop, high tea at the Empress, the tour of the Butchart Gardens - but most of all, riding in a pedicab!

Fantastic! Knowing how "virtually" close you are, I've been waiting for this get-together for a long time. I know it was a special meeting.

How fun! I'm pleased that you could finally "meet". I know it was a special and fun time!

It happened! Good for meeting up! I haven't been here in ages and I mighta missed this if I hadn't taken a quick look. You two look great!

~whew~ I'm home but still not on top of things. I have been too busy....shouldn't complain, but I do miss cooking and participating on the CF.

Ann took us to a FABULOUS cheese/deli shop - DH went nuts buying local blue cheese, foie gras, and a cumin beef sausage. Our hotel had a kitchen facility so the next morning my dad and I went out for eggs, bread and butter and DH made (and cleaned up!) breakfast with all the goodies. My dad had brought over some Washington smoked salmon as well. Forgot to take a picture of the breakfast spread, but it was great NW fare!

DH has also been in search of the quintessential NW coffee - we didn't have much luck in Seattle with the drive-throughs until we reached our beloved Espresso Vivace for a couple of visits. Ann did show us a great coffee place in Victoria close to our hotel - Caffe Artigiano which did a great job with the latte art, and was approved of by DH as well, LOL.

It was wonderful visiting with her, I know Ann is very busy and it is hard for her to get away...I appreciated she had time for me in the midst of all she is doing!

Next time I'm up there, I want to spend more time with Terri and also meet up with Michaelmaxp! Anyone else?

Not sure what your mode of transportation was, but there's a few of us in Oregon.......if you're driving!!

What a nice holiday for you Jessy and family and having a day out with Ann! I do envy (very much) those halibut fish & chips.
I didn't get my usual summer dose of them this year. And Rogers chocolates are a favourite for me too over there.

Did you have time to go to the west coast of Vancouver Island?
That's a beautiful drive out to Tofino with plenty of wild scenery, although it's also a long drive.

Now it's time to wind down and relax!

Well, looks like I need Victoria advice from Jessy and Ann. :)

I am headed there next summer, for the start of another epic bicycle tour.

Jessy, where did you stay?

I will fly to Seattle, and then see about how to get up to Canada. Haven't done all the research yet. I need to figure out, where to ship my bike, as flying it is getting kind of spensive. Then I will tramp to the same little most northern town in the US, and cross over on my bike.

Eventually I will ride my bike south, along the Pacific coast. But my must see place is Butchart Gardens, which is why I will start the trip earlier than the others, that will ride the same route.

What fun! I can say that with authority and experience since I've have wonderful times with both Ann and Jessica - I wish I had been there with both of you. Yes the fish and chips there are the best.

Riverrat, Elery says I need to see Seattle and one of the few places I really want to go to is Alaska, so at some point I'll be making a similar trip.
