Boy, I am really late. I just got my laptop back today. The 3rd would have been my DH's 81st. So was a bit sad for me. But......I hope you had a really really good day. Kathy

Thanks everyone! It's so nice to get birthday greetings every year, even though I pretty much only lurk these days. I just don't cook much anymore, although that might change, ya never know. I have had a nice bday week, starting Friday night with dinner out. I had a huge ribeye topped with gorgonzola butter...ooooh baby was it good. Then Saturday was a family dinner - a massive brisket and spaetzle were the stars, along with lemon angel pie - meringue crust with lemon cream filling. Yum. Tonight I went to my current favorite Vietnamese place with my best friend, and tomorrow I am certain when I get into work that my entire office will be shrouded in black. (It's my big 5-OH!!!) Thanks again!

Thanks! We just went for a ride and walk on the beach. We had severe storms here last night as Cindy hit us here. It scrubbed the beach clean.

Thanks everyone! I had to work today, but at 2pm there was ice cream cake with salted caramel sauce. It was fabulous! Otherwise not too exciting - I am moving in a couple weeks, so my evening will be spent packing. I'll be going out tomorrow night for a little celebration, then back to packing.

I have too much stuff! My stuff has stuff!

I just have to add this....

Although I'm packing, I decided I should have a little treat. It is my bday after all. So I cooked some shrimp I had in the freezer for shrimp cocktail. Of course I had to run to the store to get horseradish. (rant to follow.) I bought Silver Springs Extra Hot. OMG! It's freakin' HOT!!! My sinuses will be clear until 2040! It is made in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. (One of my favorite names for a city..isn't it lovely?) But wow! What are they doing in Eau Claire to produce this firey stuff?

Anyway, I poured myself a martini and shared my treat with Daisy. She loves the tails :) It's funny to watch her eat them, because instead of just a grab/swallow like she does with most table scraps, she chews them. crunchcrunchcrunchcrunch...

Now for the rant.

I only use horseradish for shrimp cocktail and the rare occasion when I have a roast beef sandwich. As you know, horseradish has an expiration date. Not because it goes bad, but loses the heat. So WHY don't they sell it in teeny jars as an option? 6 oz is the smallest I can find, so I've thrown out more horseradish than I care to remember. Why don't they sell a 2 oz jar? Or one of those room service size jars like jelly comes in?

I know...you're gonna tell me to make my own. OK, bring on the recipes :)

OY!!! My sister just called, and she is bringing me some LAMB CHOPS! I love them! I guess packing can wait!
