Checking Your Weather This Sunday Morning!

It is chilly again here in central Indiana. Temperature is 8 above this morning. We might get a tiny bit of snow this afternoon. In this area we are not expecting very much. How is your weather this day where you are?

It's 35 degrees in OKC, tiny snowflakes blowing around with the artic air front. 58 degrees yesterday.

The sun is shining but still around 33 degrees this morning. It is pretty with all the frost over everything and it is now melting off. My rose bushes were covered with it too. This week is pruning week! Hope freezing weather is almost over because once I prune the roses will start having tender new growth and buds are not too far away!!!

I know it wont be as bad, but DARN, I was just outside and everything is just starting to look good. Ann, you know things have developed slowly this year, and that was good because we didn't need a repeat of last year. So to loose it now would be doubly bad. It's not just the roses, although to lose the buds on my once blooming monster QE would be bad, but the hydrangeas and my poor Japanese maples that almost lost half their growth last year from frost damage. And my one crepe myrtle that got badly zapped last year and is now 3 feet shorter than the ones near it and is all budded out already. I did read in Horticulture Mag that last year was a perfect storm. Warmer than normal Winter and March seduced everything to grow earlier than normal. Then ZAP 3-4 days and nights of freezing temps. Good thing is it is going to be wet, so that should help. And I have bags of shredded leaves that I can put on somethings like my hydrangeas and at least protect the lower growth. And it's not going to be as cold during the day (supposedly) so maybe that will make a difference.

Hey Randy, No problem. I always know what you mean. :) If I'd ever think to sign my name to a post, people would know me by something other than "wolf lover". :) Dawn, Yes, it is an electronic thermometer. It's always been accurate when I've tested it against one of the other two battery operated thermometers we have, or the one in my truck, or the regular old thermometer outside. I just assumed it gave a higher reading Sunday night since it was on the covered porch instead of out in the open. But a low battery may well be the problem. I hope so since I kept track of the temps since the start of the year. I am going to move it from under the porch though since it makes sense that it might give a higher reading when it's in a sheltered location than it would out in the open. We don't have any fruit trees at our new house is why I was asking y'all if you had seen any damage. I have around 25 fruit trees at my old house, but I haven't been over there since the freeze to see if it hurt the fruit. I imagine we will still own that place this summer when the fruit gets ripe, since we haven't put it on the market yet. I am hoping to harvest a bunch of the fruit to put in the freezer and to make jelly and jam with. With food prices as high as they've become lately, I would just feel too guilty letting all that fruit go to waste. Not to mention how tasty it is to eat fresh. Yum, I can't wait. Dawna

Glenda, are you inviting us snowbirds to come down and fly into your open windows? lol I don't know the temps today, but it is between cool and cold. :-) Tomorrow is going to nice, around 13 celsius and sunny. Coolish. Sweater weather. We haven't had any snow yet (touch wood) I don't mind this weather at all. However, come mid January/February I have had enough especially if it has been a harsh winter! I don't hate snow but it can make for treacherous, white knuckle driving conditions. Once you've been in a 200 car pile up on one of the busiest highways in North America because of icy roads, and live to tell about it, you tend to appreciate the other 3 seasons even more. I don't even mind driving in bad weather, I just don't like the other cars sliding towards me! Nerve wracking. BJ

It was a dark and stormy night and our weather radio went off for at least 4 hours nonstop as tornadic circulations danced through the skies near us, but not many made it to the ground. A tornado touched down near Ringling in the county adjacent to us and headed towards Wilson, Healdton and Lone Grove. After spotters confirmed power flashes and a tornado on the ground near Ringling, they got a Particularly Dangerous Situation Tornado Warning and that got everyone in our county stirred up. And, that was the way it should been because all those communities at risk are right along the Carter-Love county line, so folks living near there should have been watching and even heading for shelter. We had spotters out, lots of traffic on our GroupMe app and radios, etc. but all we got out of this was hail, rain and wind as far as I know. Our final tornado warning, for the one seemingly headed towards us, was abruptly cancelled when that supercell abruptly jumped the river and headed away from us. Then we got pounded by a severe thunderstorm that dropped 1.25" of rain (more than we'd had the whole month of May so far) and, in some parts of our neighhborhood but not here, hail. I was more worried about hail than tornadoes because I have some huge onions bulbed up above ground but not yet developing soft necks. I had to resist the urge around midnight to run yank them out of the ground for their own good as big hail approached parts of our county. I found no damage in the garden except for 1 onion with a snapped neck (it wasn't at the soft neck stage so the wind merely broke its neck early), a rain gauge blown over and lying on the ground and another rain gauge totally missing. Ok, I'm out for the day. Y'all have a good time and let's be thankful that the wicked weather seemingly did little damage and missed most all of us. I hope the folks who haven't checked in are okay. I haven't watched the news yet to hear how folks outside of OK fared. I hope the damage across the country isn't as bad as they feared it would be. From watching TWC last night, I suspect there is a lot of wind damage in some areas across the country.

Well, after having a gorgeous day with 58 degrees yesterday (which I took advantage of and went for a bike ride) we are getting covered again with a nice white blanket.

North Central West Virginia:

Cloudy with temperatures steady near the mid 20s. Winds SW at 10 to 15 mph. Precip: 20%-70% by tomorrow morning.

A TOTAL OF 6 TO 8 INCHES OF SNOW (plus the 12 or so we already have!) IS POSSIBLE BY TUESDAY MORNING.

It's in the mid 20s here in my part of Ohio. But the skies are so overcast, it looks as if I could almost reach up and grab a handful of it. We had flurries off/on all night, but only a little bit of it stuck on my car.

It's 18 degrees BUT the wind is blowing very hard to the south and we can barely see outside for all the blowing snow. The real feel is minus 2. This has been pretty common this year, I'm so ready for spring.

High expected of 67, partly crowded. Very sunny right now, 11 AM. You can check out our local weather today watching the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am golf tournament on TV this afternoon. The ocean setting is spectacular.

It's dreary under a very gray sky. Temp is 32 degrees. We're supposed to get some snow, under a winter storm watch for about 4/6 inches.

For two days, especially today, it was very overcast here. A little while ago, I saw an orange 'patch' on the wall and realized the sun was finally shining in a little peephole in the sky at the same time as it's setting. It's beautiful but I got ticked as that will now make it colder tonight. Now I hear that we're under a winter weather alert......from noon Mon to noon Tues, with same 4/6 inches total, same as Nancy. I'm in Ohio. Please, please, winter bad weather, STOP!!!! I'm hollering 'Uncle'.
