I was so uncomfortable yesterday

We're one of the 'Super Tuesday' states.

I went to vote, and the fellow running the voting machine was a friend and neighbor, someone I've known for 35 years. As I was entering the booth, he was repeating the name of HIS chosen candidate in my ear, several times. It didn't happen to be who I was voting for, and there was no way he was going to change my mind anyway. I doubt anyone else heard that, though. Then, after DH was done voting, this guy was standing there talking about the party affiliations of various neighbors (not really a secret--our neighborhood discusses politics at every opportunity--LOL), and he was talking about the various candidates. I just thought it was so inappropriate at the polling place. DH and I were trying to tactfully slip away as quickly as possible. We were both very uncomfortable with the situation, knowing it's illegal to campaign at the polls.

Yes, I probably should call the election board and make a complaint. If a stranger did this, I probably would. But how do you 'turn in' a long-time friend? And I'm not even sure that this guy's totally all there--in all the time we've known him, he's never had a real job, so there is the possibility that he's challenged in some way, and doesn't know any better.
