I just ordered this one. I like the clean lines and it also will hold a 75 watt bulb so it will be a little brighter in there. I do have a recessed can light in the shower but this way it will give a bit more light. Someone on this board said that the round lights look like "boobs" and I just kept thinking of that everytime I looked at a round light so this one solves that mental image!! Thanks for all your suggestions!!

put CFL's in the fixture. they will give you the same amount of light, but way less heat. you can get the light off the mirror, but be prepared to break teh mirror in teh process. it may come off with out breaking, but it may not. this is why the sparky did not do it, he did not want to be responsible for replacing the mirror.

Hi Marie! homepro01, as always, is right. You absolutely must only put in lighting that is damp rated. In fact, I doubt your contractor will install it if it isn't. Where I live, a bathroom would never pass inspection with a light that isn't damp rated. Electricity and water are not good friends and it's best to keep them apart. I'm kind of confused about what you're trying to do. This is partly my fault because I'm a visual learner and I have a difficult time reading all of your description and seeing what you're describing. But I also think you're not sure and so we're seeing you "think out loud." AND THAT'S OK! That's what this forum is for. Kicking around ideas. I don't feel like I can give you good advice on the specific lights because I can't "see" your bathroom in my head. I know your bathroom isn't done yet, but do you think you could post some pics? "Transitional" often translates to "hodge-podge," and that's what you don't want. Your decor doesn't all have to "match"--in fact, being too matchy-matchy is a very safe but very boring design choice--but it does all have to "go" together. I can say that your choices are not "out there." Of course, everyone has her or his personal preferences and not everyone's in love with the trend of chandeliers in the bathroom. But your choices aren't really chandeliers and they really are pretty mainstream. So don't let that worry you. Unless you're going for outside the box, of course! ;-) Sincerely, Debbie

Well there'll be a ceiling mounted light which should theoretically cover the whole room. This then should be decorative but also will provide some coverage to the sides of my face. There are significant height difference across our family. I was hoping to find a one-size-fits most height, that also looks good!
