How did you spend Super Bowl Sunday during the time, others watched the spectacle?

Me, I was house hunting on the computer, and I also cooked myself a specially good dinner. :)

DH and I watched back to back programing of Funniest Videos, then spent another 2 hours working on a jigsaw puzzle, then off to bed without knowing or careing who won or lost. Football fans we are not!

I went to church and we had a great church dinner afterward. Then came home watched a little television. Had a bit of company, ate a sandwich and went to bed early! Husband watched the game. I don't mind others enjoying their sports but I just don't get interested in them.

We are huge Steeler fans - we made sure that we were done eating by 4pm because our stomachs were so nervous, we couldn't eat after that :) We had: Vegies/dip Cheese/crackers PA Dutch ring bologna/Pepperoni Cold Crab dip Shrimp Cocktail Clams Casino Spread Hot Artichoke/Spinach Dip Homemade pita chips Roethlis-burgers Homemade pierogies Fudge Brownies with PB frosting Everyone stayed overnight after that emotionally draining game and got up early this morning to go home - oldest DD had to drive over an hour to get to work from here and youngest has a 3 1/2 hour drive back to college. We are glad that they are still big fans - it's something that gives us an excuse to do a lot of things together as a family :) Cindy

Hi cactuscatie, welcome to the forum. I saw this in today's Los Angeles times, and it intrigued me. I haven't read it through yet, sorry. Recipe: Muldoon's whiskey-marinated wings January 30, 2008 Total time: 3 hours, Servings: 8 Note: Adapted from Muldoon's Newport Beach. The restaurant recommends Maytag for the blue cheese. This recipe makes slightly more barbecue sauce and dressing than is called for in the final recipe. Barbecue sauce 1 cup chicken broth 1/2 cup orange juice 1 1/4 cups chili sauce 1/2 cup molasses 1 cup ketchup 2 tablespoons soy sauce 2 tablespoons dry mustard Generous 1/4 teaspoon minced garlic 2 dashes Tabasco sauce 1 tablespoon plus 3/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce 1 tablespoon plus 3/4 teaspoon fresh lemon juice 1 1/2 teaspoons hickory liquid smoke In a large saucepan, combine the chicken broth, orange juice, chili sauce, molasses, ketchup, soy sauce, mustard, garlic, Tabasco sauce, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice and liquid smoke and bring to a boil, stirring the bottom of the pan regularly to prevent burning. Reduce the heat to a gentle simmer and cook an additional 45 minutes. Remove from the heat to a nonreactive container and allow to cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate until needed. This makes 3 1/2 cups sauce and will keep for 2 weeks refrigerated. Blue cheese dressing 1 1/4 cups mayonnaise 5 tablespoons sour cream 1 tablespoon lemon juice 2 drops Worcestershire 2 drops Tabasco 1/4 teaspoon white pepper 2 teaspoons sugar 2 ounces (scant 1/2 cup) blue cheese, crumbled 5 tablespoons celery leaves, minced 3 slender green onions, white part only, minced 1 tablespoon minced chives Combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, lemon juice, Worcestershire, Tabasco, pepper and sugar in a medium bowl. Gently fold in the cheese, celery leaves, green onions and chives. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve. This makes 1 3/4 cups dressing and will keep for 1 week refrigerated. Chicken wings and final assembly 1/2 cup Irish whiskey (preferably Bushmills) 2 1/2 cups teriyaki marinade 2 1/2 cups barbecue sauce, divided 1 teaspoon dried oregano 2 pounds chicken drumettes 1 cup blue cheese dressing 1. Heat the oven to 350 degrees. In a bowl, mix together the whiskey, teriyaki sauce, 1 cup barbecue sauce and oregano. Place the chicken wings in a large pan and pour the sauce over them. Cook for 2 hours, until the meat is tender and almost falling off the bone. Remove the wings to a foil-lined sheet pan and allow to cool slightly. 2. Brush each of the wings with a little of the remaining barbecue sauce. Place the pan under the broiler just until the sauce begins to char, about 2 minutes. Remove from the broiler and place the wings on a platter with the blue cheese dressing on the side. Serve immediately. Each serving: 403 calories; 16 grams protein; 23 grams carbohydrates; 2 grams fiber; 27 grams fat; 6 grams saturated fat; 54 mg. cholesterol; 1,648 mg. sodium.

We'll be cheering for the Patriots!! We are going to a friend's house to watch it on thier tv. I will probably bring aztec bean dip,yum, with tortilla chips. We won't be watching Tom Petty though....a few years ago we started a tradition that a leftover christmas tree gets burned during the half time....let me tell ya, they burn pretty well by Feb. Its pretty funny, the boys all stand around the tree in the snow and make attempts at "lighting" the tree, and then eventually whoosh...and half-times over. GO PATS!!

Joyful, I think it would have been about 6:30 PM starting time Eastern. I had no interest in it this year. This year it was one of those games where I would like to see both teams lose. I didn't even turn on the TV until about 9PM. I went to Menards and picked up a bunch of bargains. I knew it would be a good time to go to the stores. When I was in retail it would be packed until the game starts then pretty empty. I didn't get going until about 6 and when I pulled into the lot I thought, oh shoot, they must close at 6 on Sundays instead of 8 as I thought! But no, it was that empty. Took me until closing time to get everything, get checked out and a couple of the employees helped me get the rebate slips and then one of the employees helped me bring the stuff to my vehicle and load it! Granted it was so he could bring the cart back in - obviously they wanted to get finished and go home - can't blame them for that. He was real friendly. Said I was one of "about 10 customers" in there this evening! I told him I used to be in retail and knew it was a good time to shop. And AFAIC the commercials have gotten worse over the years so it's not worth watching for them. Plus you usually see them played over and over on the news the next few days and I suppose if there's a good one someone will be posting a few threads on it and I can watch it on the internet! :)

Sure as he!! not watching overpaid ball jockies. I had gone to Walmart earlier in the day and bought a paper back book by one of my fave authors, J. A. Jance. So I put on a music channel on the TV and started reading my book. I got so sick of all the hype before the game and then this morning, all the after-hype. Glad it's over.

DGS and family stopped in and took me to lunch.....then I came home and napped the afternoon away; tried to read but the paper kept falling to the floor!

BF and I went to Manitou Springs, and shot some outdoor scenes for the documentary we are working on. It was a lovely day, even tho it was ccccccoldddddd. Went to a cemetary to look for Emma Crawfords grave. Didn't find it this trip. We'll go back next weekend. They are having Carnival and it should be a blast! We need to get some downtown scenes. I just love this town, and if I ever get the chance, I'll have a house there!

I spent some time with my grandson (we watched Backyardigan videos, and I took pictures of him sitting up by himself and playing with a toy!), worked alongside my son unloading potential firewood from his truck, and designed a pattern for me to make a hooked footstool cover. It was a good day.

We attended the same party we've been going to for 34 years. DH has not missed a single year. I did in 2006 when I went I found myself in Antarctica on Super Bowl Sunday. I win one of the pools nearly every year. This year I won the first three quarters.

We went grocery shopping, had lunch then came home.
I made 4 loaves of bread, and scalloped potatoes and ham for dinner

That kept me busy enough that we didn't watch it. The only sport I really like watching is golf.

day started taking dd1 and clan to costco's for gas for their trip home...they'd come over to see the latest dgd, and celebrate our 42 anniversary...we shopped but sure glad we had a short list the place was hopping by the time we left. went to sears after for our gift to each other, new dw...

we fixed chili dogs for dinner and watched the game...actually this was the first sb i'd watch thru in ages...must admit it will be one for the record with the kid not knowing to make the winning td or not, lol...glad of the outcome..dh went ot bed and i watched MY type of tv, masterpiece rerun , lol...

oh Manitou Springs what a blast from my past! I love that town too, I used to drive there a lot just to hang out. Such a pretty place and fun. Have not been there in years and probably will never make it back.

Yesterday I loaded my slow cooker with my pulled pork stuff and let it cook all day so we could have sandwiches for dinner.
Hubby watched some of the game, we both tried to catch most of the commercials. I sat in my chair and played with my tablet surfing various sites and reading.

I had bought some pantry storage cabinets so we put one of those together for my kitchen, it will be well needed storage.

That pretty much covers it .

Not sure what time the Super Bowl was on TV, but I worked in the afternoon so I'm sure I worked through it.

I watched a couple minutes of the half-time show on youtube later on.

Jodi, I'm surprised they continue to invite you! If it was at my house, I might let you come but would definitely not let you join in on the pool. LOL I cooked, did laundry and watched the game. I am not a diehard football fan but when I watch it, I enjoy it. Last night's game was definitely exciting.

I did laundry. I don't care for pro football. But I have to say the Giants and Patriots sure have cute quarterbacks! :-)
