Surprised - it actually worked!

I got a Turbo Convection Oven for $20 at the thrift store last Dec., that you see advertised on TV for hundred or so dollars.

What really amazed me was yesterday when I used it to cook frozen salmon that I forgot to take out of the freezer. I had 3 pieces frozen hard enough to hammer nails in. The ads says you can cook from frozen in a short amount of time so I thought I'd give it a try. It was 5:30 and they were done in 20 minutes, but DH wasn't finished working on his latest project so had to wait. I put BBQ sauce on them and heated them another 10 minutes. They came out juicy and flaky and as good as when I cook them in the regular oven in a foil pouch. DH was impressed. You really can cook from frozen.

I have only used it a few times. First time I tested it just to see if it worked with some refrigerator cinnamon rolls. It was fun to watch them rise and cook through the glass. After that I did a whole 5 lb. chicken and it does cook it quite well. I should have started it upside down first so it browns on the bottom side then flip it so the top skin gets crispy. I learned that by searching on line for tips. It only took a little over an hour to be done, about half the time than the regular oven. The meat came out very moist, juicy and tender. And it does drain away the fat, 1 1/4 cups worth.

I am really surprised it worked as well as it has. I have it stored in the pantry and keep forgetting it is there. When I got it, it was in the original box with all the parts, still in their plastic bags, and it looked like it had never been used. Even the warranty card, cookbook and manual were still there. I think I will find a place on the counter so I will use it more. And if we ever do get a heat wave, it will be great since it generates very little heat.
