Homemade Peach Ice cream using................

.........the Five Minute - Three Ingredient Ice Cream recipe shared here by Shaun and Sooz.

I added the whipping/heavy cream to the blender along with the sugar and then added the frozen peaches. I also added a little vanilla extract to the mix. Pulsed to chop the frozen peaches and then quickly processed. The mixture was then poured into a stainless steel bowl, more chopped peaches were stirred in and into the freezer the bowl went. Every 30 minutes or so I gave the mixture a stir which I think helped it stay creamy as it froze.

While the ice cream was freezing, I baked a batch of my favourite Oatmeal cookies and then made ice cream sandwiches with the peach ice cream. A portion of the dough was spread onto a small cookie sheet, baked and then cut in bars. There was enough ice cream to make two large ice cream bars and two round Ice cream cookies. Plus one bowl of ice cream.

Moe hasn't had dinner yet but he did have one of the ice cream sandwiches and he gave it rave reviews.

I can tell you that the ice cream is really creamy and very peachy. Unfortunately I only like chocolate ice cream, not big on fruit ice cream so all I did was taste it.

Yumm Ann...I made your Oatmeal cookies this weekend and used some vanilla ice cream (Breyers Natural Vanilla) and made ice cream sandwiches with a few sets..

Claire, Here'a a recipe for strawberry ice cream that I thought was great. It's from the cuisinart site. Fresh Strawberry Ice Cream Servings Makes about fourteen 1/2-cup servings Ingredients 3 cups fresh ripe strawberries, stemmed and sliced 4 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice 1-1/2 cup sugar, divided 1-1/4 cups whole milk 2-3/4 cups heavy cream 1-1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract Instructions In a small bowl, combine the strawberries with the lemon juice and 1/2 cup of the sugar. Stir gently and allow the strawberries to macerate in the juices for 2 hours. Strain the berries, reserving juices. Mash or purÃ©e half the berries. In a medium mixing bowl, use a hand mixer on low speed to combine the milk and remaining granulated sugar until the sugar is dissolved, about 1 to 2 minutes. Stir in the heavy cream, reserved strawberry juice, mashed strawberries, and vanilla. Turn the machine on; pour the mixture into freezer bowl, and let mix until thickened, about 20 to 25 minutes. Five minutes before mixing is completed, add the reserved sliced strawberries and let mix in completely. The ice cream will have a soft, creamy texture. If a firmer consistency is desired, transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and place in freezer for about 2 hours. Remove from freezer about 15 minutes before serving. Thanks for filling in the gap between the two numbers Annie. Like Annie, I eat foods with raw eggs and prefer my steak and even my hamburgers (which are more risky because when you sear a steak with the inside medium rare, the inside was never exposed directly to external contamination but the some inside of your hamburger was on the outside) medium rare. And I eat raw fish in sushi. So far the only two times I've had food poisoning were when I was on business trips. The more recent time, nothing that I had eaten was a typical suspect so my guess is that the restaurant wasn't careful enough about cross contamination or had an employee not washing hands carefully enough. And we use to make quick eggnog (milk with a raw egg and some vanilla in the blender) for my kids one of whom went through a period as a very picky eater so it was one way to get some protein into his diet at the time. I also keep in mind that it the higher the bacterial load the more likely it is to make you sick. A few salmonella cells in a raw egg that has been kept refrigerated will probably be fought off by my immune system. I wouldn't for instance make eggnog, let it sit on the counter for half a day and then drink it. Just in case (IIRC the likelihood that an egg carries salmonella was something like 1 in 20,000) the egg had salmonella, I don't want to let something with raw egg sit at a danger zone temperature for an extended period of time. Ice cream has an advantage there - you know it has been kept cold since it was made. On the other hand, if I had guests over, I would at least let them know that there was raw egg in something and have an alternative because I think they should be able to make that decision for themselves and who knows who has a compromised immune system. And my son and DIL don't want my granddaughter to be fed food with raw eggs. Since children under 5 have salmonella diagnosed at a higher rate than adults (perhaps because it takes less to get them dangerously dehydrated or because they have less immunity?) that seems to be a sensible precaution. I've put in the link for how to cook eggs enough to kill salmonella while still being able to use them in raw egg recipes. This is a compromise for those who need it. I remember reading that someone tested the pasturized egg whites vs regular egg whites and they didn't whip to as much volume. That link also mentions using acidity to kill salmonella. You have to get the PH down to 4.0. If you make mayo and let it sit for a while before you mix it with something else, that may do it. Just tossing some lemon juice along with the egg into your ice cream mix probably wouldn't because the acidity of the lemon juice would be diluted too much by the other stuff. Wow, Jenn thought I was Sol ! What a nice compliment to meeeee!!! Here's the Lavender Honey Ice Cream recipe, which I found on line! David Lebovitz' Honey Lavender Ice Cream 1/2 cup honey 1/4 cup fresh lavender flowers 1 1/2 cups whole milk (Susans note: I used half & half) 1/4 cup sugar pinch salt 1 1/2 cups heavy cream 5 large eggs (you will only use the yolks) Âroom temp Sooz's Notes: 2 T vodka (80 proof) to keep the ice cream from becoming icy A bit of gel food coloring to make it look lavender (or whatever color you want) Instructions: Pull the lavender flowers off the stems & measure out the flowers. Heat honey with Â½ lavender, just until bubbles start to form in the honey (Sooz's note: I used the microwave). Remove from the heat, and let sit an hour or so to extract some of that tasty lavender flavor. It may look kinda funny, but it's okay. Put the cream in a bowl. Rewarm the honey a bit to make it runny and pour it through a sieve into the cream. Squish those lavender flowers with the back of a spoon to get out as much flavor as possible. Add 2 T vodka to this bowl. Meanwhile, warm the milk, sugar and salt until the sugar and salt dissolve, and the milk is hot. Separate the egg yolks from the egg whites, and beat the egg yolks into a yellow foamy looking foam. Add the warm milk to the yolks, a tiny little bit at a time, mixing constantly. You have to add the milk slooooowly especially at the beginning. Put the egg yolk mix back on the stove, and heat, stirring constantly over medium-low heat. Use a thermometer for this next part, as it will keep you from curdling the custard base. Heat to 175Â°F. Never stop stirring. At 175Â°F, the custard should have thickened nicely, shouldn't have curdled, and will be ready for the next step. Immediately pour this through a sieve (just in case there are any cooked egg bits in your custard), pour the hot custard over the lavender flowers (which are in the sieve anyway) and into the cool cream. Mix gently, and add the remainder of the lavender. Sooz's Notes: I used violet "gel" coloring and added it with the remainder of the lavender. If you add too little food coloring, it will look a sickly grayish color. Keep adding the gel coloring until you get what color you want. I used the end of a toothpick to add the color, then stirred with a spoon. Cool in the fridge overnight. Sieve out the fresh lavender, and run the mixture through your ice cream maker, using the directions for your machine (make sure you froze the freeze-y canister for at least 24 hours). Then, you slowly pour in the sieved ice cream mix into a the machine while the beater is stirring on low. If you pour in the mixture and then turn on the machine, it may cause a problem as the paddle may not be able to move. Churn for 25-ish minutes. I use Lars (from the cooking forum) basic recipe, but I did alter it. Chocolate Ice Cream 3/4 cup sugar 1 cup half and half 1/4 teaspoon salt 2 HEAPING tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder sifted 3 egg yolks, lightly beaten 2 ounces (or more) semisweet chocolate, chopped (Mocha chocolate is really good for this, or Aldi's dark chocolate, any good chocolate will do) 2 cups heavy cream some Baileys, I am not to precise about the amount 1/2 cup toasted hazelnuts, chopped (optional) or Pecans! :) 1. Combine sugar, half and half, salt, and cocoa powder in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly. Bring to a simmer. Place the egg yolks into a small bowl. Gradually stir in about 1/2 cup of the hot liquid and return to the saucepan. Heat until thickened, but do not boil. Remove from the heat, and stir in the chopped chocolate until chocolate is melted. Pour into a chilled bowl, and refrigerate for about two hours until cold, stirring occasionally. 2. When chocolate mixture has completely cooled, stir in the cream, and Baileys (or your favorite liqueur). Pour into an ice cream maker, and freeze according to manufacturer's directions. I normally add the nuts about ten minutes before the end.

Yum! That looks fantastic!

I made Black Cherry Almond and Strawberry Banana earlier.... this is a ridiculous recipe and I'm almost sorry I tried it. There is going to be a LOT of ice cream in my future! LOLOLOL!

I'm with you Ann on fruit ice cream but I love ice cream with my apple pie and peach cobbler. Imagine that... LOL. Give me chocolate! I just found this method on the WFD post and will have to try it. Happy to see no raisins in those oatmeal cookies though...LOL! I do add them for my nephews when I make them for them and the rest of my group.

I love peach ice cream and the oatmeal cookies put it over the edge. Love this idea! Looks like it's time to make another batch of ice cream :) So am I reading this correctly that you did not use an ice cream maker?

rita and Tracey, the recipe is on the What's For Dinner thread. The original recipe was posted by Sooz, and Shaun posted it on WFD.

Instant ice cream

1 (12 ounce) frozen unsweetened strawberries
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup heavy whipping cream (you can use half-and-half)

Place strawberries and sugar in food processor.
Process until finely chopped, scraping bowl occasionally.
With processor running slowly add cream.
Process until mixture is smooth and creamy.
You can also use peaches, blueberries...........

*I added 2 T Vodka to keep it creamy.

THEN put into freezer.

Everyone's pictures look so good. Love the peach. Here's mine, before prettying it up. We'll see what happens with it tonight. Of course the kids couldn't agree on strawberry or blueberry, so...

Looks wonderful (as do all the originals posted by Sooz and Shaun).

I used to do a the same basic recipe only mine used plain yogurt instead of the cream. Never looked as much like ice cream as yours do although we at it right away as sort of a sort serve.

Thanks Sooz, this recipe is so easy I'll make it for Moe often.

Tracy, you understand right. No ice cream maker necessary. Just a blender or food processor. I used the blender. The recipe doesn't call for stirring the mixture after it goes into the freezer, but I think it really helps set it up and keep it creamy.

Jenn, the cookie time wasn't adjusted for the round cookies. But for the dough I baked in the small cookie sheet for the bars, I did have to add a couple of extra minutes. I cut the bars while the cookie was still slightly warm.

FOAS, looks great. Moe would love both the strawberry and blueberry. I have some raspberries in the freezer that I'll use for the next batch. I might even add some chocolate to that batch.

I can see I'm going to have to try this. (This recipe is making that ice cream freezer I bought last year look obsolete.) I love that it's only a few ingredients.

Alexa, Fat Free Half and Half is definitely an option. We used to drink it all the time in our coffee, and it tastes pretty good if you need to reduce the fat. Me? I'd rather simply eat less and use the real thing!
