We have nine dogs ...

Six are rescue yorkies that were abused/traumatized by previous owners and were hard to place because of their "issues" both physical and mental. As dysfunctional as they all are, they're very protective of each other.

Then there are the three American Tundra Shepherds ... mama, and two of her children (2-1/2 years old now). She's the shrimp of the family at 95 lbs., the kids are 140 lbs.

All are indoor-outdoor dogs, with full access to the house through several doggie doors.

We live in a very furry house.

I have one precious baby left; she is 15 and doing great. I rescued my Stash cat (she has a 'got milk' mustache) when she found her way to my house..she was about hand size and near death. I love her soooo.

I've had many cats and dogs over the years..most all were rescues and lived a long life until they crossed that Rainbow Bridge. I miss them still.

LOL stoneybaloney! I bet you do live in a furry house! Ours is that way even with our three small girls! I've never heard of an American Tundra Shepherd. Is there any chance you could post a pic?

Three rescue dogs and a tarantula that was purchased, not rescued! (The spider was my classroom pet before I retired, and the kids learned to care about her.)

One dog from the pound and one from Rocky Spot Rescue.

1 Black Lab, Leroy, that doesn't know he's a dog. He's such a good dog. He won't go in carpeted rooms, he walks w/o a leash and he thinks I'm the best cook ever!! Gotta love something like that!! I'd love to have a cat but too many family members are allergic, so, no cat.

My God Stoney!
How big are the doggie doors!!! Do you use a Dyson, as they are purported to be a good vacuum for pet hair??

We have three...one pug and two 'mutt cats'. All our furkids, present and past, have been rescues or adoptees.

Three years ago we had two german shepherds, Bear and Teddy. I loved them so. We had them for over 10 years. Teddy had to be put down in Dec. 2005. That broke my heart, but it left his lifemate Bear so despondent. I went to the shelter to find a companion for Bear. We found a great little black lab named Lolly. I was workig at the time and dh has a lot of health problems. He said he just couldn't keep up with her. Reluctantly I took her back to the shelter. Thank God shortly after that she found a wonderful forever home.
In April 2006 my sister told me her SO 's boss gave him a german shepherd they could not afford to keep. She said the dog had ben mistreated so she didn't want to return it to the owner. We took her. Bless her heart. She coaxed Bear into playing again and they became real close. Two months later Bear died. He had cancer. I'll always be grateful to Penny for making Bear's last days happy. In September my sister called again and said there was a poor little dog wandering around the neighborhood. He was so skinny and had almost no hair. She wanted to know if we could take him. We did. That;s our sweet boy, Buddy.

Twenty one months ago Bob called me at work and said his son had a Great Dane pup that knocked their toddler down while playing with her. He wanted us to take her. I told Bob they were stupid for getting such a big dog with a one year old child. I also told him I didn't want a dog that big. Bob continued to tell me how cute he was. I continued to say I didn't want a dog that big. When I got home from work I met our new dog, Luther.
So after all that, we have three dogs.

Stoney, every time I read about your dogs I am so grateful there are people like you in this world. Many thanks to you.

Linda

We have a rescue dog, Declan who will be 4 in March. He is the absolute light of our lives. He is so smart, so cute, so loving and he "moans" every time we scratch his belly. We love him to pieces. He is our third rescue dog.
God Bless all of you who have many pets. If I lived in a bigger house and did not have to work full time, I would have a few more dogs. I'm allergic to cats.

My 3 Travel Companions love to go on Trips in the Motorhome.

We have 3 cats..Lexie, Colbi and Salem. Lexie was our first..adopted from the local shelter..then Colbi was added..The family and I were working a local adoption and Colbi sat in a kennel with many other kittens. She was the only black and white one..I made the mistake of saying if she is still here at the end of the day..She was and now she is family. The Salem adopted us...She belongs to a neighbor up the street but she refused to go home.

We have 2 dogs...Bear a Saint Bernard.and Winnie a foster that turned into one of us. We found out 2 weeks ago that Bear has cancer, so his time with us is limited..

lit

We have 1 dog..Speck (Border Collie)
a cat..Scratch, she got her name when I picked her out and went to nuzzle her, ouch, right across my nose.
a rescue kitten..Axle

3 cats, all strays.....

Rex, Jazz, and Gizmo

We have 11 cats, all rescues. One of them belongs to my stepson and will go back to live with him in a few months. He is also taking her best buddy so they won't be separated. We also have 2 dogs, one of them a rescue. He is a chocolate lab who wandered up our driveway 3 years ago, he was in sorry shape. All of the no-kill shelters were full and animal control would have gassed him within 48 hours, so we had to keep him. We later found out he used to belong to a family in the neighborhood who moved away and left him behind. We feel really lucky we found him, he is a wonderful dog. :o)

We have 3 dachshunds. Alex is 11. Baxter and Rascal will be 2 on the 25th of this month. Sheila

One dog, Roxie, a black and tan dachshund and two cats: Petunia, a black and white tom and Fuzzy (an old female who was "deposited" in my yard many years ago).

We have 1 cat, Cujo. A friend of my oldest son gave her to us because she was terrorizing their dog. We've had her for many years now and she still has a mean streak, but we get along just fine. I don't want anything else that eats! I want to be able to get up and leave whenever I want to and not worry about pets. Cujo is an outside cat and I have a friend who will stop by to feed her and make sure she's okay when we are gone.
We do have a few strays that visit occasionally.

Doxiemom, close friends of ours had a brown daschund who recently died. He was big! Are your 3 all big ones? I think the miniature ones, short and long-haired are so cute.

We have six dogs and three cats. All rescues. We also have two goats and three chickens. We just recently got one of our dogs. We rescued him from my mom's neighbors. They were going to "dump" him if their young son didn't find a home for him by the weekend. What idiots. He is the smartest little dog and so loving. Their loss for sure.

We have 3 large dogs and 3 boy cats. Most are rescues of some kind, either about to be euthanized or dumped or up for adoption at the vet's office, or wild. We only paid for one, and she's the most neurotic of the bunch. lol Sweet though, and very funny.

The most affectionate one is the dumped one. Somebody out there did us a favor that day.

Jasdip, Alex is big--he loves to eat and has no sense of being full. He is a sweetheart though. I know I won't have him much longer as he was diagnosed with Cushings disease a few years ago--about the time his brother died from it. He weighs about 22 pounds. Baxter and Rascal weigh about 10 pounds each--they are supposed to be miniatures but I think they are too long. They are all black and tan--Smokey--Alex's brother who died was red--he was smokey grey when I got him but his color changed to red. Sorry to write a book but I could talk about my dogs all day long--I just love them!! Sheila

One dog from a rescue group. She is a mini Dachshund though she is not so mini any more. LOL

Three. One black Lab mix, Jake, who is about 5 years old. Two cats I adopted a year ago. Gidget is about 2 and Peggy Sue (the little brat cat) is one year. All 3 of my pets were adopted from our county shelter.

Just the one. Henry is a two and a half year old Golden Retriever. I love him to pieces!

2 cats...their mother was ours and got "caught" before i had her fixed...(didn't make the same mistake with her babies)

We have a dog, a tortoise and some fishes...oh and a garage cat. (I don't know who owns it..but it likes to sleep in my garage..so I started putting out a dish of food..It runs out when I come in though. But I don't have a rat problem anymore..so it can sleep in there if it likes.)

Just one - Mack the soft-coated Wheaten terrier. He's four years old now.

2 horses, 1 old outside cat, 2 inside dogs
I would have a lot more animals if the vet bills were not so high.

One prissy cat . She and her "sister" came from the shelter. Sister bit me twice, resulting in trips to MedServe and fevers, etc. She had no claws at all. I cold not take her back to the shelter as it is not a no-kill, so my niece drove 5 hours to collect her and took her home to be #7 in their household. They send me pictures and I know all are happy, except I still miss her. She is a gorgeous calico. The other one is gray and white and looks like a Victorian lady. She likes to go outside on the patio but refuses to contribute to the environment, instead rushes inside to poop on the paper beside the litter box. So I am stuck with her too! She keeps me covered in cat hair. I have had five other cats over the years, all of whom were presents or rescues. So much comfort and so much pleasure!

One, the Harry Dog, right now. In about six hours I will have two. "Sam" and Wes are headed home right now.

I'll post photos of "When Harry met Sam" tomorrow!

We're down to 2 dogs,a turtle and a tortoise. When the kids were young we were a zoo....cats,dogs,hamsters,rats,snakes and an assortment of other critters shared our household.

Our tortoise is probably well over 50 years old. My dad found her and brought her home when I was around 12.

One 88 pound dog, Kaicee, and 5 cats.

No pets for me, anymore, that is!

Two cats and one dog.

About fifty. I will come back and list them when I finish doing evening chores. I just came in for a minute.

One Pit Bull, Sara. One Boston Terrier, Boy. And one Scottish Fold cat, BozLee.

We're on our fourth Westie in 40+ years of marriage. There have been Charlie, Rosie and Pip, and the present one, Eliot, came from Westie Rescue -- a puppy mill dog. Each one came with a distinctly different personality.

Right now we have two rabbits, Sonny, who is very definitly DH's rabbit & is a mini rex, and Sydney, short for Obsidion (she's black with some white), who is supposedly mine. Syd is a mini rex mix and our rescue. DD, Perfect Pets, has one of Syd's son's. She called me from work in Nov. 2005 almost crying because Melodie's mom was up for adoption. Sucker mom said ok, because Pets already had two rabbits and one cat of her own, plus two more cats that are her SO's parents all in the same house. She has since rescued another rabbit. That girl needs to win the lottery and buy a huge farm! And it would be full of animals!!!! We have had a basset/sheppard mix, mom was a registered basset, a newt, and three or four gerbils, plus assorted fish over the years.

Tami

Just 1, a blue & gold Macaw. We also have about 38 ducks, 4 geese, 5 turkeys, 5 guineas & chickens, but I don't count them as pets even though they are not for eating.

Two dogs, Sammi, a Pekinese that was given to us by SIL's cousin, she had to find a home for him as she was living with her mother and her mother's dog and Sammi got in a tussle while she was at work and he lost an eye.

Have 3 indoor/outdoor cats, Sophia, Tuffie, and Bootsie. Then there are about 8 or 9 feral cats that live under the backporch that I keep trying to catch and get fixed. Have managed to get two of them spayed and have another one that will nearly let me pet her without running away.

I have 4 horses...Lonesome, Tue Lo, Gypsy and Missy (or "Mama" as I call her)

2 dogs...beagle cross named Bobby and a schnauzer x dachshund named Zelda

Not sure how many cats...Elmo, James, Tommy, Johnson, Cloud, Mancow, Jo Jo, Crooked Letter, Cracker, Budha, Sonny, Pluto,
Wildchild, Mary, Flicker, Big Gooney, Dude, Peeweeter, Triped Tockings, Boots, Annie, Gizmo, Zorro, Snip, Figgy,
Beauty, Little Beauty, Norman, Pam, Evil Ears, and Bindi.
There could be more that I can't think of right now.

A white leghorn rooster named Sparky.

A white leghorn pullet named Brittney

A peking x muscovy duck named Daisy.

Possum....Tater, Jerry, Scar Foot, Celest aka Pretty Woman,
Hungry Jack, Gretchen, Oprah, and Loser....and another one that isn't named that is just here because she likes her house and the food. Hungry Jack is recovering from a broken leg and will be leaving in about a month. The rest are non releasable for one reason or another.

A squirrel...I call him Ass Hat, but I mean it affectionately. :)

A feral pig named Piggy Sue and another wild pig that lives here that I call "Baby".

I feed many raccoons, but only a few have names. Audrey...haven't seen her for awhile, so I don't know if she is still here. Cancun, who has been here for 13 years, and Puff, a short tailed raccoon...that I think is one of Cancun's children.

Some goldfish and a few koi.

I think that's all.

At the moment...8 cats. All strays or shelter cats. All but one now are special needs. And we have 4 Rainbow angels....

Here is a link that might be useful: Pet Pics

Tally, I loved reading about your cats. Bless you for what you do...especially for so many special needs kitties.

I have two dogs now, down from eight.
Nibbles is a rescue my DD found dodging traffic on a busy highway. A cute brown dog...until we bathed her! She is white and tan. Nibbles named because she looks like a Shitz tzu, and had a huge bottom tooth overbite. When she licks you she "nibbles" you at the same time.
Brandy is the most recent dog we aquired. Again she is a Shitz Tzu, I found her when I took Nibbles to the groomers and Brandys mom and dad where there. She is not a rescue to speak of, but a fun addition to our home.
"Gray" the cat. She has been with us for about 12 years, and was left on my doorstep by a neighbor kid who thinks I never figured out who left her. She is tail-less, not a bobtail, but without any back extremities at all. This made for a very sick kitten, as she never fully developed a large intestine. She is fine now, and sleeps most of her days away here.
Our largest count on animals was about 10 years ago, 8 dogs, and 3 cats.
They all grew old here, and made us very happy.

Trin

3 dogs, pepper, given to me by a friend when she was a baby
she is now 10
scottie boy, a scottish terrier that i rescued, who is about 12
pj, who my brother found in abandoned in the woods who is almost 7 now
and a cat my son found as a wee kitty on a job site several years ago, and somehow meemee wound up living with me
i think he is 4 or 5

I have two, a cat and dog. The cat, well the KT here made me get him, lol. Tally (or someone with a name beginning with a T) helped me a lot to get him home and adjusted.

He was a stray by the road and I came home and posted that I had seen him. They said to go back and get him. So it was dark and I set off to get him. Passed a man perched on a bridge ready to jump - took a bit of flack on here for ignoring him for the cat - and arrived at the point when I saw the cat last. He was there waiting but boy oh boy did he fight when I tried to get him in the car. Took him to the shelter the next day and they refused him because of the cat flu. Took him to the vet and got all his shots, neutered him and kept him. He's still a bit wild and won't stay in the house and I love him to death.

And a pure bred dog whose litter brother showed in Crufts. He's very impish and FULL of personality. He gets about 20 kisses a day. His favourite past time is to torment the cat, but the cat holds his own.

I have five cats. Three were rescued.

Two Boxers, Sasha and Bella, they will be 5 next week. We 'rescued' them from a backyard breeder that was breeding their poor momma too much, and the living conditions were not so great. THey are totally spoiled rotten now. Our Jenna, another boxer, she was also a rescue... passed on when she was 11. Still miss her.
