Anyone ever make rapini?

I bought some rapini (sp??) yesterday and didn't unpack the groceries so it wasn't refrigerated overnight (is that okay?). Does it usually have an not-so-great smell? And how long and what part of it do I cook? Thanks for any input. I was planning on making a pasta salad with whole wheat pasta, then I was going to brown some garlic, cook the rapini, roast some veggies (peppers, zucchini, cauliflower, and onion) and toss it in olive oil with balsamic with fresh herbs. Sound okay? And for cheese should I add feta or parmesan? Thanks again.
