I almost always wear shoes because of a foot problem, but before the problem I rarely wore shoes. It had nothing to do with keeping the carpet clean though. I just like going barefoot.

Oh, we take them off at the door. Most people here do. We have very sloppy weather for a good part of the year, so leaving shoes on is not a good option. My brother lives in North Carolina though. At his house, they all leave their shoes on. We can never get used to that.

When I grew up, everyone took their shoes off when you got home. My husbands family never did.

I usually go barefoot 3/4 of the year. I wear my furry Crocs in the winter.

I don't wear shoes in the house, not because I'm a neat freak or anything but because of comfort. I come in, take off my coat and hang it up, and then I go to the bedroom and take off my shoes. I always take them off at the door in other people's homes, however.

Shoes always come off at the door. I wear knitted slippers year round.

Take them off, I don't know of anyone in Newfoundland who leaves them on. We have too much snow/slush/mud to wear shoes around the house. What a mess, especially on the carpets! You'd be living in filth if you did that.

Usually leave them on, until after supper when the dishes are done, then I relax and take them off. foot problems, also

Unless the weather is bad, I keep my shoes on when coming inside.

I've never visited anyone who always takes their shoes off when entering the home.

I'm with Leslie.. barefoot is the way to go! Shoes get kicked off. Sometimes I'll wear slippers if it's a little chilly.

We generally take our shoes off when we enter the house, but not right at the door, we just don't like the clomp, clomp, clomp you hear when you wear shoes on hardwood floors. I either go barefoot or wear slippers. Mostly slippers, now that one of the dogs is a sloppy drinker. I hate stepping into water droplets.

When we visit our friends' house in CO, it's shoes off at the door, it's custom up there and they keep nice, new slippers available for those who don't like walking around in stocking feet. Actually,they have a little sitting area by the door to make changing easier. It's ski country there, so everyone is used to it and it's done automatically.

Shoes off, almost always. And if we ever do keep shoes on we never wear them upstairs. Of course the puppies come in and out in their bare feet so it doesn't keep dirt from being tracked in. The puppies aren't allowed upstairs though!

Shoes off at door, rarely do we wear them inside. We go barefoot or stocking footed mostly.
We don't expect company to take them off, kids and g-kids are not company.

Mine come off at the door and then I put on sandals or slippers. DH wears his inside. He has to be careful of getting sores/cuts on his feet because of his PAD.

It depends... if it is sloppy wet weather, the shoes come off, otherwise I sometimes leave them on if they aren't dirty. When we first moved here, we had a 'no shoes' policy in the house.. of course DD was small then and her and her friends were always running in and out.

I wear mine into the bedroom and then change to some fluffy socks.

I always take my shoes off in the house. In the summer, I am barefoot most of the time. Hubby always keeps his shoes on until he goes to bed...seems weird to me. LOL!!

I take mine off. I work in a dirt filled place all day long and don't want to track it in the house. But I do replace the work boots/tennis shoes with my Ugg boots in winter or flip flops in summer. I just can not go barefoot. Never could.

I usually change into slippers soon after I come in, especially in the winter when I wear boots outside.
I do it for comfort...not for the carpeting.

I take my shoes off at the door. In the house I wear socks, slippers or go barefoot depending on the weather. Half of my house has laminate flooring which can be very cold.

Take them off at the door and only wear socks in the house. I tripped over my shoes once (while wearing them) and fell and won't wear them in the houae anymore I feel more secure without them

I usually kick off my shoes as soon as I come into the house. I run around either barefoot or wearing socks. I'd not wear shoes anywhere if it were allowed.

I never wear street shoes inside my house.

I take them off as soon as I enter and immediately put on my designated inside-house Crocs.

Doctor's order, I must wear shoes all the time. One is built up. I can't go anywhere if they require shoes removed at the door.

I developed heel spurs last year, so I always my shoes with the orthotic inserts I had made for them.
