I think it must be a metal wind-up robin that I got for Christmas when I was about seven or eight. I don't know why, but when I think of Christmases as a child, I always remember that robin. I'm sure I had "better" gifts, such as books, but that darned robin remains in my memory.

I was 8 or 9 years old. My most memorable gift from parents was actually from Santa Claus. It was a beautiful ballerina doll with pink shoes and a pink tutu. She was so pretty.

Like Linda, mine was from Santa and it was my first bicycle. I wanted one so bad but wasn't expecting it. I still remember the excitement of seeing that beautiful, shiny bike under the tree!

Of course I should say the best gift my parents gave me was simply being the most wonderful parents in the world. That's a gift that has just kept on giving even though they are both gone.

Today is Laugh & Get Rich Day? I can live with that!!!

My pretty-blue- guitar. There it was in the Sears big wishbook catalogue. I was 10, and smart enough to know that you got more presents when you believed in Santa...It was a full-size guitar, a bit awkward to handle... The instructions I ignored so, I'd never play like Elvis, but I had fun.

My pink cardboard kitchen. I had little plastic food and plates and a sink that pumped water (that my parents discouraged me from using, kill-joys!) lol It was a big set, took up one long wall in my bedroom. I had some fun with it, but not a lot of kitcheny fun. I remember pulling it out from the wall and making a fort behind it. rofl Probably wasn't what they had in mind when they got it for me, but having 2 older brothers will do that to a kid.

A Bicycle. It was a real surprise, because I hadn't asked for one.

A sewing machine! When I was 9, mom had an OLD machine, and I really enjoyed sewing, so I got a 'fancy' new one! I still have it in its stand.

    A ballerina doll(from santa)

I remember 2 that stand out. My first hard cover novel when I was in grade 3 or 4, "Heidi". Mom brought it back to me after a day of shopping. I loved that book. And a pearl ring that Mom gave me when I was in 2nd year university.

My Gold Anniversary Mickey Mouse wristwatch.. yes, was about 20 years ago, for Christmas, and my father told me he had questioned my mother when they bought it, she saying that it was "perfect" for me, because I was about 40 years old at the time.

But, I was and still am a Disney Land/World fanatic(as was my mother), and it was perfect. I still wear it.

I am drawing a total blank. As far as Christmas goes, I remember we got mostly clothes.

    Really, total blank.

The one gift I remember the Most is a diamond ring(altho you had to squint to see the diamond). It was for a birthday on my 16th. It meant that they finally trusted me to NOT lose something. It meant I was growing up.
I still have it in my jewelry box!!

My dad just days before he died. I was an "old" married lady with two little ones, and he pulled me into his lap to hug and kiss me. I was so embarrassed! 30 years later, I wish dad was still around to embarrass me.

An easy bake oven. It was the start of a deep interest in baking.

A big blackboard for our bedroom. It was for both my older sister and I. So, like our room we shared, we drew a line down the center, and one side was hers and one was mine.
Also, my first bicycle. We couldn't afford new ones, but, it didn't matter. Mom told me to take out the trash. When I walked back to the house, I could see it up on the hill.

It would be a Disney drawing kit. I remember being so excited when I opened it, but there was something missing or wrong with the set, so Mom sent it back. I never got another one.

Why do I always remember the bad stuff?

The gift I remember the most is a gold locket. Dad gave it to me for Valentine's Day ...I must have been 35 or 36. He gave me a photo of he and my mother take at my aunt's wedding, so I could cut their heads out and put them in the locket. I wear it often.
Being a practical guy one Christmas he gave me new snow tires, jumper cables, a fold up snow shovel and an ice scraper. I was so disappointed. I remember stomping up the stairs telling him "I'm still a girl you know". LOL

Our parents gave Neva and me beautiful watches for our 12th birthday. I have both of ours in my jewelry box.

One Christmas, my parent's got me a magnetized doll house. It was a flat board with pictures of rooms on it, and there was a Mom, Dad, boy, girl and dog that were 3-d figures. The flat board stood on 4 legs, and there was a magnet on a wand that you put underneath the board to move the figures. I thought that was the coolest thing ever.

My "Poor Pitiful Pearl" doll. I was so happy when I openend up my present and it was "her". I remember it like it was yesterday.

Their love, their support, and their guidance.

Funny question, as today is the first anniversary of my Father's death.

When I was 13 I received a radio from my mom.

My Mom did all the shopping for gifts. When I graduated from High School, my Dad gave me a table-top radio that he himself had bought for me.

What made that so special was 1. In my teens he was forever telling me to turn the radio down and 2. I was the only one in the family to have stayed in school and graduate. I understood the significance of that gift. Many gifts have been forgotten, but not that radio.

It was about 50 years ago when I was around 6 I got a "Tiny Tears" doll that cried real tears (after feeding her a bottle of water and squeezing her tummy). My brother gave her to our dog when he was mad at me and it was torn apart.

Hmm...probably when I was a kid, the bride doll that I snooped around and found before Christmas. As an adult, several years ago I asked my Dad for one of his old carbide hunting lights. When I got back from town, there he sat in his chair, just polishing it up like crazy. He kept saying, "I don't know why you want this old thing!!?" He's been gone almost 7 years and the light still sets on the windowsill in my kitchen.

My mom called me this morning and sung Happy Birthday to me and then said, "I'm glad I had you!" (That's a gift in itself!)

They both gave me a lot of things (and the majority of them weren't "things"!)

    There are two.

The first was a Christmas gift the year I was in the 7th grade (freshman in high school). My older sister and I had taken "Beginning Typing" in summer school that year (so it was the summer before I entered 7th grade). Daddy had told us that if we could type 45 wpm by the end of the class, he'd buy us a typewriter. This was back in the days of manual typewriters! Anyway, Sis and I both could type more than 45 wpm by the end of class, so that year for Christmas we each got a Smith Corona typewriter. Hers was green, mine - blue. I still have mine.

The second is something my father gave me for my birthday the year I turned 21. Earlier that year, my apartment had been broken into, and among other things, my stereo was stolen. It had been a gift from my folks. My birthday is the day before my mother's, and all my life we had celebrated our birthdays together. Well, the year I turned 21, my mother died -- less than two weeks before our birthdays. One of the things my father gave me for my birthday that year was a new stereo system. I still have it, and will never, ever, get rid of it.

Santa gave me a life size doll one year. She was about as tall as a 3 year old. I named her Patty. I loved the heck out of that doll. I was so excited to get her!
