Show me your floor in a bath with marble counters
Comments (11)We're still in the middle of it, obviously, but here is our Emser tile in style Moda, color Perla, w/our Athens Silver marble countertops from Ann Sacks. There will be large marble tiles in the shower as well, to balance out the Emser gray that's already in there. You can't see the marble well here, it's really quite distinctive; but here's the overall effect (there will be marble on that side wall inside the shower you see to the left there): This is a close-up of the marble - I thought I wanted classic carrera, but I fell in love w/the sweeping pattern of this instead: You can get a feel for the contrast here, even though the marble isn't shown well - this is my vanity:...See MoreInset Cabinet Owners - Please Show Me Your Counter Overhang
Comments (14)Overhangs are generally measured from the cabinet box, not the door or drawer front. E.g., for non-inset cabinets (framed or frameless), a standard cabinet is 24" deep but the standard overhang is 25.5" deep. This 1.5" covers the door or drawer front (usually 3/4" to 1" thick) plus the slight bit of opening b/w the cabinet box and the door/drawer front. Then add another 1/2" or so to extend past the door so spills are directed away from both the door/drawer front and the interior of the cabinet/drawer. The overhang has to extend past the doors/drawer fronts, not be as deep as them. It's also a good thing to cover most of your knobs & drawer pulls so they're not digging into you as you lean against the counter. With inset cabinets, the 3/4" or so for the doors/drawer fronts isn't needed, so a 3/4" to 1" overhang is usually plenty....See MoreShow me your countertops!
Comments (15)OUKatie, I would never do all white. It is too stark and like you said, it wuld show everything. I do however like gray and white countertops and I love light "marbling" as opposed to speckling or really dark veining. I am not looking to find the best "fake" marble, but something that makes my heart sing everyday. romy718, I love that kitchen too, hence why I am painting my island the same! I would LOVE to find a light greige or grey tile just like that back splash with a bit of variegation at a reasonable price. That would solve ALL my problems! Does anyone know where I can find this?...See MoreShow me the counter top you chose with your Blanco sink in truffle
Comments (7)it's funny but I don't remember the exact name..I do remember the company I think it was this http://www.quartzforms.com/en/products/620 (and it looks different IRL..it looks lighter and sort of off white..green based off white maybe just in my kitchen? I was much more concerned to make it work with backsplash, cabinets etc..Truffle sink was much easier to work with)...See Morealku05
