I'm reminded of our last house. We moved in in Jan, 1991. The kitchen was a concoction of:gray indoor/outdoor carpet, coppertone appliances, lilac painted walls, and cabinets painted a salmon/orange. From the single bulb in the ceiling hung it's on/off string, at the bottom of which hung a toy, stuffed doll witch. (Dubbed the "switch witch"!) Man that kitchen stunk big time, like dead animal stick. WHEN THE LIGHT WAS ON! (OK, we got a good deal on the place, and planned to remodel from the get-go) Turns out the light heated up the insulation up and in the ceiling above it. Very pungent, BAD smell. By the time the remodel was done, no more smell. Something about certain light switches, insulation, and witches! Glad you got to the root of the problem! Now we can all relax, smile, and hope some squirrel doesn't get into the rafters! (They smell like old dirty socks, BTW!) DH was appalled when I suggested that he put his socks in the laundry! He swore they were clean, but when I would go into his office (a bedroom with the computer in it), he'd be clacking away, and I'd smell the socks. Well, his sense of smell isn't up there with mine! Swore nothing wrong! Finally he got a whiff, near the A/C vent. Went up to the attic, and there you have it, old, dead, squirrel! (Took him 2 weeks to believe me!) OLD, DEAD, ROTTING SQUIRREL! Oh well, everybody have a laugh, and be thankful for the sense of smell we have isn't as good as Man's best friend's!

What a great rework! You should be proud of everything you did! I know you said you have ideas about dressing up the window over the bed, but I could see maybe three of the panes with drawings/etchings/paintings in them. Once of a bird's nest, one of a grouping of robin's eggs (to pull out the blue), perhaps another of feathers. Just wondering if you tried the bed on the wall where the desk is,and tried the desk in between the windows? I just think the four poster and the nightstands could really stand out on the plain wall, rather than competing visually with your pretty windows. You could also then hang a couple of wall lamps over the nightstands for lighting by the bed, to eliminate the need for the overhead lighting. But, even if it all stays just where it is, it is lovely!

Nice room, and great sewing skills! I have to wonder, however, at the money and time spent on decorating a room to appease a buyer when painting the room a more neutral paint color would be less expensive, most likely less time than already spent on sewing, procuring fabric, getting feedback and would solve the problem of worrying about whether the bright lime green walls would turn off a buyer. I've sold many houses, and I LOVE color. I love the green room. But many people just aren't good at projecting and all they see is a green room. Depending on the market, I've left red walls in a living room and colorful wallpaper (that's what sold the house) and the last house I painted every room back to a neutral color, and in that instance, THAT is what sold the house. My point is, depending on the market, your location, if there are many other homes competing against you, and who your target buyer is (young, Pottery Barn type would prefer neutrals most likely, older retired couple might be more likely to go with the color--of course, there are exceptions) I'd make the decision based on those factors. People tend to get caught up on staging both in buying and selling a home; the first thing I ever thought of was not how pretty the bedding was in a house, but what that room would look like WITHOUT the nice bedding, furniture and decor. Different buyers, different markets, different homes call for different decisions. Your room is beautiful, and I wish you the best of luck in selling your home.

les, my post disappeared that I wrote to reply to you and it has been 20 minutes so I will reply again. If you were in person at my home and was in my bedroom, you would agree that the set up I have now is optimum for my bedroom furniture and viewing of my TV and being able to turn on the lamps with the light switch since both lamp switches around the bed are affected by the light switch on the wall when one enters my bedroom. The most important reason for the Armoire with the TV to be by the windows closest to the wall entering the bedroom is because the cable outlet is on that wall behind the double dresser. I like my TV to be catty corner to be able to see the TV when I am folding laundry on my bed standing up. I like to watch HGTV for decorating ideas and a few TV shows I enjoy like Grey's Anatomy. To have a long cord wrap around my room would not be good for when I vacuum and it would make my TV even slower in switching TV channels and turning on. I love my new Toshiba LCD TV Panel but it is slow. Next, I like being able to switch on both lamps when I am doing laundry at night by switching on the light switch. That light switch on the wall when I enter the room controls the light switches on the sides of my bed the way it is now. I had to put in an extension type of cord (using a surge protector that has a long cord) to the wall behind the chest of drawers for my clock radio to be plugged into to prevent it from being turned on and off accidentally. I also like facing the door when I sleep for safety reasons in case I hear noise and want to see who it is. Finally, I like the way a bedroom looks when I walk in the room and the bed is on the wall I am looking at. I do wish my bedroom was two feet wider and three feet longer but I am lucky it is not smaller so at least I was able to figure out how to get all that furniture in my bedroom in a light color to not overwhelm the bedroom. I also think the triangle cathedral ceiling and the wall windows opens of the room some despite it not being too big for a master bedroom. I think the size of the pieces of the Durham Furniture look nice in my bedroom. I loved the Stanley Furniture bedroom set I had for a week but the pieces were big for my bedroom I can see now and I only could fit a night stand in that corner to put a TV on which allowed me no room for a VCR or eventually a DVD player. If my bedroom was bigger, I would have liked a chair next to my dresser by the light switch to put clothes on for setting up what I am wearing the next day. Since I do not have the room, I put a clear tiny hook over my door for this purpose and it is working out fine. Thanks for admiring my new furniture again. Do you like the Ivory Cream shades on my Satin Brass Lamps? Remember I used to have mismatched lamps there with one table lamp in a brass and ivory finish with a white lamp shade that was very old and the gold plated material was chipping and one floor lamp silver with a white and cream lamp shade. I had wanted crystal lamps but I saw these lamps on sale at JCPenney and thought they looked so pretty and had thought the ivory lamps shades would be a white ivory and not a very yellow ivory.
