When and How to Switch Citrus from In-ground to Containers?
Comments (3)Wait until late summer and root prune with a sharp spade. Think of an octagon or stop sign. You'll make 4 plunge cuts at the N,S,E,W sides in late summer. In late fall, make 4 more plunge cuts that represent the other 4 sides of the octagon - Ne,Nw,Sw,Se. Sever the roots a couple of inches outside of where the original root mass was. This will force the roots to 'back-bud' and grow more roots closer to the trunk so when you lift it in spring it will be able to sustain itself. Make sure you water as required after root pruning. When you lift & pot it up in spring of '11, treat it like any other citrus repot and remove wedges of roots totaling about half of the roots. Complete the repot in the spring of '12. Comments (13)If there is attic above the kitchen wall and no 2nd story to pass through. Running new wire shouldn't be bad at all. Insteon allows you to change light switching without wiring. A module would be placed in each light on different addresses. The switch box would then have insteon switches that send the command wirelessly to the module. It would cost 100 for the 2 switches and 40 per light plus a couple hours to put them in. In some situations, these costly materials beet cutting sheet rock and fishing new wires. In your case it sounds like a new wire is possible....See MoreDo I have ground wires coming to my electric panel?
Comments (10)Does not matter if 'ground' is created by the conduit. Code says a ground wire must be inside that conduit. Because conduit is not a reliable connection. Absolutely wrong. Article 250.118 Types of Equipment Grounding Conductors specifically permits either a copper, aluminum, or copper clad conductor OR Rigid (RMC), Intermediate (IMC), EMT conduits. The handbook even amplifies on a separate grounding conductor not being required in such conduit. Plus there are more things certain flexible conduits (in some circumstances), cable trays, AC cable, etc.... All in all there are 14 things listed (a separate conductor as well as 13 other things that can suffice)....See MoreDimmer Switches...do I need to discuss it NOW while eletrical
Comments (6)Actually it can affect it during the rough in. If you know where you want dimmers exactly they should make sure that it's going to work at the location. The most common run of the mill dimmers are rated at 600w and 1000w. Say you have a three gang box and you want all three switches to be dimmers. If the load of all three switches requires you to use 1000w dimmers at each location, it could be impossible. The dimmers have "fins" on the sides of them that act as heat sinks. In order to get three dimmers to fit correctly side by side some fins have to be removed. Removing them, lowers the load that each switch can handle. So some planning should be thought out and some switches may need to be moved so they are not side by side other dimmers. Also if you are doing smart switching, some require a neutral. If you're under the 2011 code this shouldn't be an issue as it's now required at every switch....See Morejerickson100
