A great movie recommendation

I watched it twice today...once early this morning before the kids got here and then again when DH got home....I told him he has to see it! He loved it too..it's "Changeling" with Angolina Jolee. It was so good! I didn't know it was a true story until the end. I felt so bad for her, so frustating what she went through to convince him it wasn't her son...here's a link to the story. I highly recommed this movie!

I don't know if I want to see it because I don't like movies that upset me. Give me a good real life murder mystery, and I'm right there! LOL

Anyway, I was reading your link and it says that "Although Collins died in 1935 not knowing what happened to her son,".

Being curious, I googled Gordon Northcott, who was mentioned in the article and found another story that say's he and his mother admitted to killing Walter and several other boys. Northcott was executed in 1930, 5 years before Cristina died.

I don't know why I am telling you this except that it is an interesting piece of the story.

She obviously had to know before her death what happened to her son. I am curious what they say about that in the movie. Do they explain what happened to him?

patti43, I came across this thread while searching for movie ideas for Netflix. Are you aware you can watch movies on your computer? I watched this fantastic Aussie TV series on my computer, the first 3 seasons are the best, but I stuck with it until the end. The shows are like 40 minutes, if you get interrupted it starts where you left off when you return. Needless to say, Netflix is the best $9 we spend a month! Dear Snidely: "if you have a bad taste in your mouth over the civil rights movement during the 1960s......" I was shocked to read this sentiment expressed, though I'm sure the comment was sincere. Do such people exist? " Yes, there are people who hated the civil rights movement; George Wallace for one. And then there are folks who do not enjoy reliving the bad scenes of the past. My comment was meant to convey the idea that this was a pro- civil rights movie. Personally, I thought the movie was excellent.

I'm so glad that you watched and enjoyed it. I thought it to be pretty special. I watched another good one last night...Philomena with Judi Dench. This is based on a true story about a young Irish girl who is 'sent to the nuns' when she becomes pregnant. The girls have their babies, and are forced to work (toil) under poor conditions, only to have their babies sold to rich customers, often from America. Judi portrays the girl when she is elderly and has an opportunity to go to America to search for her lost son. As usual, Judi is riveting in this film. The range of emotions that move across her face......very remarkable. Look for it on Netflix.

No...at the end of the movie it said that she continues to look for her son.....I looked it up online too after I watched the movie because this left me wondering if he was ever found..dead or alive. I read that he was never found. It was such a good movie it left me wanting to know more...in the movie they didn't mention the Gordon's mother helped kill these boys....that was something I found onoine too. Really a good movie, very intense, you can just feel her frustration.

I really liked it, but I know DH would hate it, it's too depressing. I looked it up before I went, so I knew what to expect.

My grandparents and their extended family lived in nearby Riverside at the time this took place. The murders became so infamous across the country that the town of Wineville changed its name to Mira Loma.

I am very interested in seeing this film -- thanks for the review!

I have sisters and a brother out that way now....they never heard of it until the movie came out. Kind of creepy to think about! My DH loved it also....he's a softy!

It seems like they ( the Northcotts) told so many lies who knows what really happened.

That is one screwed up family.

I do believe that based on all I've read today that Walter was probably killed by them.

If his little body was never found, I can also understand her hope that he was still alive. Probably not likely though.

I read too that Northcott's mother confessed to killing him..so who knows. They were one whacked out family! Makes you wonder how many of these kinds of families exsist in our ndighborhoods today!
