HE3 Washer....smell...I know it has been discussed but...
Comments (7)Drastic mold removal from HE3 I finally got rid of the mold and the smell! No amount of cleaning of the machine would have solved my problem. I checked the entire machine and could not find the source. So I decided to rip the machine apart! To see pictures of the inside of the machine go to the following link: http://www2.tdux.com:8090/images/personal/2006/Washer/ You might have to cut and paste this to you browser. The mold was inside at the top of the front and back of the machine and caked behind the drum. As of now the machine works good as new believe it or not! The odor is gone and the clothes are clean once more! If they had used stainless steel behind the drum most of the mold and debris would never have collected and if they had of added a few carefully placed cleaning jets and a special cleaning cycle then this problem would never have happened! I took a big chance tearing the machine apart. I do not encourage anyone to take this drastic measure but I figured I had nothing to loose! I could not keep using the machine the mold and smell was making my family sick! NOTE: I would only use the special detergent they suggest!! The picture of the back side of the drum shows about 1/2 inch layer of mold/detergent and dirt. This would have been drastically reduced if we had started out using the correct detergent! NOTE: Always remove clothes as soon as wash is complete! leave door open and open soap tray! This will help to dry the machine! NOTE: The mold would have never happend though if they had of designed the machine correctly!!! Any comments? Comments (27)My son and wife were on a low budget when they needed to buy a W/D a couple of years ago. They have one child and cloth diaper. I advised them to find a used SQ set at a local appliance shop. They're very happy with their set and just moved 300 miles to a new home. No problems with the W/D after the DIY move. OTOH, my daughter just moved across country (full-service military move) and asked for help in choosing a new W/D for her family. Two children (one special needs) and cloth diapers for the new baby. Different circumstances and a much higher budget. I recommended a new TOL Maytag Bravos set with a service contract, same that I bought for my new home 4 years ago. She's also very happy with her new W/D, especially with the higher capacity loads she can do now. Different choices for different budgets and circumstances. I'm the family laundry nut, so my opinions are sought and respected. As for the HE top loaders not using enough water - I do many loads on the bulky cycle which uses more water but not as much as a conventional washer. I've never had stains that wouldn't come out in my Maytag Bravos with onboard heater....See MoreHE Front Load washers and detergent
Comments (5)I have used for FLs for many years w/o using HE detergents. I got my first FL a decade before HE stuff was being marketed. In those ancient days many mainstream detergents were labeled low suds. When I couldn't find a proper dosing regiment with the detergent I had been using I just tried a few other low sudsing products until I settled on one that works superbly in my water and my machines with stuff. Since you already know what works with your water and your stuff, try using a much smaller dosage (start at 1/4 of what you were using in a TL) and see if it cleans satisfactorily. If not, increase dosage until it does or until you get too many suds for good cleaning in your machine. Chances are you'll find the sweet spot. You can always experiment with other detergents to see if you like them if you're of an enquiring mind. I've tried almost all of them, and many brought or sent to me from overseas. Charlie's doesn't work well for me, but others seem to prefer it. I still like my plain Jane mainstream powder for cleaning, availablity and cost. It's just soap, not an Elixer of Life. From time to time I have used all three of the components of your mix in my Fl, though only as adjuncts for special circumstances. Have fun with your new machine. Anybody who cares enough about washing to make their own detergent will probably have a ball with a FL. Molly~...See Morekenmore elite he5t front load washer f70 errors
Comments (3)And this is why I SUGGEST people plug machines like this into a surge protector because of the sensitive electronics. The board went out on mine after a year, it got replaced.......from that point on it was plugged into a surge protector, and almost five years later no issues......So I can only assume the surge protector is why. It sounds like your control board went out.....There is a guy on Ebay that will send you a new board with instructions for replacing it yourself.....You send him your old board. I think he tells you step by step how to do it. Do an Ebay search he5t error code....See Morejulescap
