I was a skinny 18 year old newlywed! LOL My how time flies and changes things.Especially the skinny part.Seems like only yesterday.Well,maybe not "yesterday",but not that long ago.DH is the love of my life and my best friend.He takes good care of me and I try to do the same for him.Times haven't always been great or easy but we always managed to weather the storms.We have 4 beautiful,wonderful kids and 9 precious grand children. The best advice I can give anyone for a long,happy marriage is,"Don't sweat the small stuff!"

I do caroline,but they are in Texas and I'm in NM right now.Wish I had one here,I'd sure post it.

I am so sorry for your loss. Nothing said or done helps,but I do care, that you've had to go through this traumatic experience. My Mom died of ovarian cancer July 3rd 2009. She had the surgery followed by chemo treatments, it was in remission for 4 years. Only to come back again about a year and a half later. More chemo, tons of tests, they switched chemo treatments a few times. We got her into one of the best cancer treatment centers and the end result was, she still died. I seen my mom go through so much with the chemo treatments so I understand your mom's not wanting to go through it =/ I would of insisted Mom do chemo, too simply cause I couldn't bear to lose her. It hurts. It hasn't gotten better so far. In fact sometimes it seems to get worse as I realize, I've never gone without talking to her for so long. I really hope it does get easier for the both of us. Like you my Mom was pretty much all I had. Never been close to my Dad.

Hi Tami, I regret that you had such trouble. A few years ago a Canadian lady married to a U.S. service guy reported here that she'd received a bequest from an aunt, sent from Calgary, something over $20,000., I think, and she was troubled because the U.S. bank in Texas or nearby wanted a large amount to exchange the Canadian dollars to the legit. kind. I told her to send it back to Calagary and have them exchange it there, as they'd charge in the neighbourhood of 1%, as they do that every day. She did. Her husband, after retirement, had worked on border patrol near Mexico, then bid on a customs job and got it, due to military preference, and moved to Minnesota ... and his buddies on border patrol, who were trying for the same thing, had green eyes. Perhaps a gray/green such as BM healing aloe or quiet moments? The BM strip is #110. One of the darker shades on that strip might also work since you have so little wall space. What is the color in your hall and living room? Maybe you could continue that into the kitchen.

Congratulations to a wonderful couple. Isn't it amazing how time flies. Being married 50 years is a great accomplishment.

My cousin Vincent and his wife Kathy got married in 1960, too. Looks like it was a great year for marriages!

Congratulations, I totally agree with "don't sweat the small stuff". We were those two kids getting married on Dec. 5th, 1959. I look back and see those first years, husband was drafted less than a year later and went to Korea for 13 months. That was the only time that we have ever been apart. You all have a wonderful day together,

Congrats, kiddo. That is truly a milestone. I agree with you, about don't sweat the small stuff. I think sometimes now-a-days, people tend to give up on too easily on their marriages. Are you and your Hubs doing anything special? At least anything you can tell us about.LOL. Dottie, married 55 yrs.

(Despite fashion mavens, you CAN be too thin! LOL My normal weight is 120, but I was 113 the day we married. Nerves.)
