best pre-rinse faucet

Apologies if this is a repeat I did search first but saw nothing...

I am thinking of adding a pre-rinse commercial sprayer style faucet on a large deep single bowl prep sink. Does anyone love or hate theirs?

I just installed my new Ikea Hjuvik "pre-rinse" faucet and am very disappointed. The spray pressure is horrible - it's no better than a regular side spray. I'm getting rid of it - going to sell it as "almost new" and hopefully get a decent portion of my money back - and buying a REAL pre-rinse, which is what I'd wanted in the first place, but when I was buying fixtures (two years ago, lots of delays) there were no commercial units that would fit in a home kitchen.

T&S Brass recently came out with a "Mini Pre-Rinse" line that's *exactly* what I'd been looking for. They're real, commercial pre-rinse faucets, just cut down to fit in a residential kitchen and with a regular faucet added on so you can use it as a regular faucet as well. I'm going to be switching out for one.. I have used real pre-rinses in commercial kitchens and they're just amazing. The spray heads don't use any more water than a regular sprayer, but they just BLAST food off dishes. This does mean that they'll get the backsplash wet.. but that's what it's there for, right?

this is one I'm considering -- Kraus also has a taller one w/ a regular faucet. People seem to like them, the price can't be beat.

I just researched this question myself, so I will try to help here. Each faucet has a different distance and the differences range to 30" or more. I found the best way to tell is find your faucet on a website, click on "more details" or whatever the similar label is on the website and open the tab marked "specifications." Look for the length of reach on the list of specs. If it is not there, open the installation drawings and look at the diagrams. Also, the measurement sometimes includes the part of the hose that stays inside the faucet neck, so subtract that if you need a specific measurement. I think there was one that was 56" and if I remember where I will post again.

We have this faucet. It works very well with our deep one- bowl sink. The answer to your question is no and yes. No you do not have to hold the button down to keep the sprayer running if the water volume is sufficient. If the water is only slightly on with a small spray of water you have to hold the button down to keep the sprayer running. It seems very well made and substantial in weight. We bought ours on ebay from Mayfield Plumbing. They had the best price we could find after much research and the service was great.

I haven't really needed any more of a backsplash for a couple of reasons: 1. Most of the time, I'm using the pot filler. The stream is more like a standard faucet and is fine for filling pots and pitchers, handwashing, rinsing veggies, etc. I use the sprayer for rinsing plates/cookware and spraying down the sink. 2. I try to be careful with the sprayer. While I mentioned that I wish the water pressure was a bit stronger, it's actually already much more powerful than a "normal" residential pull-out sprayer. So when I do use it, I make sure the dishes are slanted toward the sink, the sprayer head is pointed to prevent overspray, etc. If it sounds like a huge effort, it's really not; just being mindful of the power of the tool. 3. If you get a pre-rinse faucet, I'd highly recommend considering one with a single-lever mixer. Being able to control temp and pressure simultaneously and one-handed makes a huge difference, and it makes it effortless to lower the pressure to the sprayer to completely eliminate overspray. Honestly, I still end up toweling off the countertop a bit more than before, but it's so worth it.

Kraus KPF-1602 faucet! Installed for 2 years, and love it. It has two faucets in one, the water pressure is great, it has all-brass construction, and it is very dramatic looking. I cannot get over that some brands charge $1000+, and I don't even think those faucets are as functional as the Kraus. Right now, $285 at expressdecor (where we bought ours).
