Mini Pendants over the kitchen sink

Does anyone have mini pendant(s) over their kitchen sink? I can't seem to find many pics of it so I'm wondering if its a bad idea for some reason. My kitchen is teeeeeny - most of the lighting will be recessed cans. There isn't much opportunity to dress up the room except for the light fixture over the sink. That's why I'd like mini pendants.

I have a 36" wide space over the sink and would like to put two small mini-pendants there. (not sure just one would look ok to me). I only have 7.5 foot ceilings.

I'm really looking mostly for photos but I'll take suggestions as well.

A 7.5 foot ceiling is not a great space to work in a pendant, unless your sink is in an open area and not against a wall or window, maybe? I have recessed cans in my kitchen and I'm looking into removing one (or three) over the sink area to convert to pendants. I love the look of pendants and recessed cans together and over the sink is an ideal spot for a pendant. I'm just not sure that a 7.5 foot ceiling is high enough.

I'm doing it, but won't be done for a couple months.

If you use a small scale pendant it could work, but I think it would be critical that the height is adjustable.

Hello, We are struggling to the end of a kitchen renovation in extreme stages of decision fatigue. We are planning on 2 mini pendants over an island which flank an island hood which has its own lighting. The island hood is centered in the middle, so we need the pendants to light the island on either side. I know there is a robust debate regarding pendants over islands with island hoods, but the receptacles are up there and we are committed at this point. From a design standpoint, we are looking for something simple that won't draw lots of attention (i.e. white or clear with brushed nickel) that throws a good amount of light. It's direct line voltage. Any thoughts from the group if any of you looked for the same? Thanks.

I am doing a mini-redo of my kitchen. So far I have pulled out vinyl and had hardwood installed. I have selected new wallpaper in a Jacobean style. I do not have the budget to change out the cabinets (traditional raised panel in white) or change the laminate countertops. I am trying to get more of a french country feel. I think I could get decent bang for my buck by changing my lighting. I am thinking of exploring using a recessed can conversion kit to add two mini-pendants over my peninsula. Has anyone used these? I am curious how the hole cover looks. Any one have pix? Currently I have 2 builders-grade flush mount ceiling lights - one is over the sink and the other is about 5 feet away. I was thinking of replacing the one over the sink with a mini chandlier and doing a coordinating flush mount. My upper cabinets do not have a bridge/apron over the sink but they do at least have crown molding on them. I probably wouldn't considered a mini-chand if the cabinets weren't finished in some way. Over my table I'd do a coordinating 5 light chandelier. My biggest concern/fear is too many hanging down things. The room is 26 x 13. Any thoughts?

Thanks everyone! Yes, I think I am leaning towards a school house pendant like the one I linked above. Mocking it up is probably the way to go. I am also a little weird about having things hang over my head in my workspace--switching to a wall mount pot rack for this reason. So the mock up would give me an idea whether pendants would bother me. (I swear I'm not quite this strange in person.). Definitely keeping flush mounts as another possibility.

The kitchen space hasn't been created yet because we don't have the building permit yet because we need a zoning variance but can't get that till we go to the zoning board meeting in a few weeks and all of this has put us about 7 weeks behind and a few thousand more in cost. Gaaa. So while it would be nice to actually try out some things in the actual space, we're doing the next best thing ... our bathroom has a double window w/walls on either side and the space is very close in size to the sink area that will be in the kitchen. The paper shades weren't quite doing it so I hunted around in the basement and found a 10" (across the bottom) shade and a 13" (across the bottom shade) that we alternately tacked up on a ribbon into the ceiling in our bathroom. We've gotten input from several people, including the folks at Schoolhouse Electric, to go with the 10". While I don't think we'd have a problem with it I do think we'll always be like "ahhh, should have gone just a tad bigger". Since it is the only fixture in the kitchen (the rest is recessed and under-cabinet lighting) we're leaning towards the 12", making it more of a statement piece. I would just make sure the pendants are adjustable. You can buy them single and put in 2 or buy one fixture that has 2 lights.
Take a look on some sites and see what you like. I've seen a couple of single pendants over the sink on the FKB and they look good!
I plan on putting in track lights above my sink but not flush mount, some with a little length.......I have a very large kitchen window above my sink. If it doesn't 'tickle my fancy' I guess I return them and try something else : )

thanks to all of you for your advice. I think I'll just try it - if worse comes to worse I'll just change them out. I like the idea of getting one with two lights if I can find one small enough. And I'll just make sure they can be adjusted to a shorter length.
