When my dd went off to camp this summer and got RED paint all over a new white t-shirt (that could not be washed in hot water), she used the Tide pen on it. It did help a lot, but the spots were still pink. And since the Tide pen ran out before she could apply it everywhere, she still had some bright red stains on it.

I sprayed all the spots thoroughly with a new formula Shout, called Advanced Shout. Then I immediately washed it in Tide w/bleach detergent and warm water. I let it soak in the washer for at least an hour (I may have soaked it overnight), then I finished the wash cycle the next day.

It ALL came out. The shirt looked new again! Remember, she had been off to camp, and the paint had already been on the shirt for about a week when she got home.

I realize your dd's coat is of a different fabric than my dd's shirt. In our situation, there really wasn't anything to lose by trying the Advanced Shout.

Have you thought of taking the jacket to a dry cleaners? Just a thought.

I have washed polar fleece (cat bedding) in hot water many times without any problems. I line dry it, and it comes out fine.

My understanding is that fabric softener is the real enemy of fleece. It makes it pilly and clumpy in my experience.

If this were my jacket, I'd take it to a professional cleaner.

If they couldn't get the stain out, I'd then try washing it in hot water. Then I'd try the dye remover as a last resort.

Is the jacket a light pastel pink? If it is, I wouldn't be as worried about stripping the dye out of it with a remover... if it were magenta, I'd be more concerned that it may end up looking mottled.

I've found the dyes in polyester polar-fleece type fabrics to be very colorfast, I'd be surprised if it fades.

plumbly, it might help to also put white vinegar in the wash water. Vinegar helps to break up stains.

I wouldn't use vinegar. Vinegar is used with dye to set color in Easter eggs. Or that was how you used to dye eggs. So I would be afraid the vinegar would set the stain. Also, if you have run in through the dryer you probably have permanently set the stain.

Have you tried one of the prewash products such as spray n wash? I actually use an Oxiclean prewash that I really like. Try spraying it down and then dusting it with laundry detergent. Use a toothbrush and lightly scrub the area, keeping it wet with the prewash product. Come back and check on it and see if it's releasing any of the color. Just don't use the bleach formulation of laundry detergents. And I know everyone is "gun hoe" about Charlie's, but try a different brand. Even if you have to borrow a cup from the neighbor.

My last stand product is Oil-Eaters. Again you would spray on as a prewash and gently scrub with a toothbrush. I have used it to take grease out of clothes. And it hasn't taken the color out, but it wasn't polar fleece. It does list as a laundry prewash on the bottle. But I would test it in an inconspicuous spot before using.

I'd try the prewash (shout type) and Oxyclean soak. Disssolve the Oxyclean in hot tap water. You can add some cold then if you feel the need, but I've washed polar fleece in warm to hot water also. Let is soak all day or overnight. I've had one soak take out many stains while 2 or 3 might be needed for others. I used one or two soaks to remove the dye transfer from a patchwork Christmas tree skirt that ran when washed before I ever heard of Oxyclean. It had been packed away a year or possibly two when I soaked it. The runs all came out.

Thanks to all... I got it out after a long soak in the product combinations I started with and then a wash putting that bucket I soaked it in right into the washer (water and all) and then adding more detergent... then I did a second wash with no detergents to be sure all was rinsed out... and hung it up to dry... looks like new... one happy daughter... new pocket book only to be used with her dark blue or black jackets now!
