Buyer beware when it comes to Vita Futura (bath decor)
Comments (12)I'm sorry to hear about your negative experience seven years ago. I'd like to let you know about the steps we've taken to address the concerns you've raised since. First off, ownership of the business has changed and we now ship out of Buffalo, New York. Michelle is no longer with the company. We now maintain dramatically more stock in the US (and even some stock in Canada) to ship the vast majority of orders without requiring more stock to arrive from Europe. Additionally, our website now makes it more clear before checkout when items must come from Europe vs. when they're in stock in the US. Beside inventory counts, there is now a US (or Canadian, if applicable) flag shown beside the inventory counts that are available locally. If there is no stock locally, a German flag is shown. When adjusting quantities in your shopping cart before checkout, if you add more than the quantity in stock locally of an item, a German flag appears beside that item. Around 80% of orders placed on our own website (and 100% of orders on Amazon or Houzz) in the past month did not require any stock to come from Europe, included in this count is custom manufactured rugs which always come from Europe. The email templates have been standardized and streamlined. Customized software has been developed to reduce the possibility of human error when sending out timeframe and other emails. Additionally, there is better visibility of order status through a customized telephone system that allows you to query order status in case your Internet Service provider is not properly delivering emails or is erroneously sending them to spam. We also now allow you to check order status and communications by entering your order number in the search box. The clear majority of customers within the Continental US or Ontario/Quebec, Canada ordering standard production (not custom made) items now receive their order within one week from order placement. The exceptions to this are largely due to circumstances beyond our control such as inclement weather and customers providing incomplete or inaccurate shipping addresses. To Natasha's more recent comment, I searched for but could not find your order to investigate the situation. If this was an order placed on the Amazon Marketplace, Amazon policy does not recognize replacement shipments and thus we typically issue a full refund and encourage customers to place a new order if they still require the item. There have been additional steps taken since your comment was posted to help avoid shipping errors and improve inventory management. If you have remaining concerns, I'd be happy to help. Comments (27)thanks guys, but i'm fine! as i said i think i'm pms-ing! this is a confusing thread since i believe the reason so many frequent gardenweb is to learn about the newest developments in technology, design and building. i don't think it's a place to judge people's choices. honestly, i don't even know if the original poster was implying that pedestals are in some way excessive or ridiculous... that is however, the way i read it. it's hard sometimes to interpret IT messages since they don't convey the intended tone of the poster. "compelled" somehow relays a negative tone. some replies seem judgemental as well. my back injury aside, i'd still opt for the pedestals. or if i didn't want to pay for them i'm raise them on a platform of sorts. how this might be unnecessary or even frivolous to some is a mystery to me. anyway, i for one use this site on a daily basis. it arms me with information and provides a network filled with people who share a common interest. ok, so maybe you just need a new washer. maybe you don't need hand-holding for that but for those living through a remodel or build it's an amazing source of communtiy. heck, i just like to come here. people are for the most part helpful as well as entertaining....See MoreI feel like I have found my people
Comments (36)No pics yet because nothing's been able to be "redone". Still plywood subfloors, no appliances, and a ripped out bathroom. I realized yesterday that the refinished floor has areas that are duller than others, so now I need to get the guy back to recoat. It didn't show up until the floor was fully dry and starting to "cure" but it's very noticeable. :-( The entire finished basement has to be ripped out (walls, ceiling and all insulation) and the floor and all the framing disinfected. Environmental companies don't do this and not many pest control ones do either. I've gotten estimates ranging from $4400 to $9600 for the same job. It involves guys wearing chemical suits, respirators, extractor fans, disinfectant spray, the whole 9 yards. The neighbors will no doubt be appalled at the goings on. Then I have to get an electrician in to examine the visible wiring for damage. I'm sure there will be some. Haven't been able to address the garage floor issue because the old refrigerator is sitting there waiting for my son to arrange to remove it, which apparantly is a more complicated scenario than hosting the Olympic Games. Nobody rents a truck with a power liftgate, nobody we know has a trailer hitch for one of those tow-behind things, and none of his friends have time to assist. When the rest of the house gets painted, the walls will be sealed with BIN first. I realized that the garage floor is actuallly painted (the grey stuff) so I may be lucky and perhaps a good scrubbing with Mex will help. (TSP isn't allowed to be sold in our state) I have to say, the rodent stink is just as bad as the dog smell. Different but equally disgusting. This has been a huge financial sinkhole. What should have been no more than $35K in renovations has already surpassed $65K that in outlay to date, and there is still another $40K committed to (and necessary) but not yet done and paid for. In the end this house will have cost me $100K more than its selling price and neither the house itself nor the area justifies that number. I could have bought any of a number of houses listed at that level over the past 3 years which would have gotten me more square footage as well. And fewer problems!...See MoreWhat is the feeling when people come into your house?
Comments (21)The people that came by the day that started this post have become friends. They told us ,then, their house was decorated close to the same way as our house is.Yard sale eclectic. We dropped into see them and she was totally right only I think their antiques are so much nicer than mine. Anyway it really was a pleasure to visit them and compare. In a good way.We do have many of the same kind of furniture pieces. We laughed a lot. Their house is fairly large but two stories each story has a bath. Stairs were a bit steep but manageable. We all laughed in the uniqueness of their house and how they made it work for them. I could move in there and be wonderfully settled in with out any trouble. Even though our house is a totally different lay out. Their upstairs is just a little smaller than our whole house. A person could live in the upstairs with out even using the lower floor which was a daylight basement. One whole side was not filled in and a nice door to the outside. It used to be the garage and work room or?? Made into a wonderful man cave for him on one side which would double as guest suite as it had the bath. On the garage side now closed in with large windows is a pool/ping pong table and washing machine dryer. If we were ever looking for another place to live this would be a wonderful house. EXCEPT it was on 20 acres. UGH...See MoreErrant_gw
