Congratulations on your new toys! You are going to really enjoy that microplane. Only on this forum could people understand how exciting it is to get new cooking toys. Ordinary people would laugh at us.

I'm getting a new dishwasher installed tomorrow, but only because my old one bit the dust. It was about 14 years old, so I didn't think it would be worth paying a service call on. I'm supposed to get a freezer, but it hasn't come in yet and I'm about ready to go back to the store and get them to credit my card and buy it somewhere else. My little Kitchen Aid food chopper/processor also bit the dust, so I ordered a new one. I really can't do without one of those. So I guess you could say I've been doing pretty good with my wish list.

Congrats to Bobby and Beverly! I adore my microplane, a gift from Arabella Miller in the first swap! I hated the old box graters and in addition to zesting lemons, I use my finer microplane for grating frozen pieces of ginger for marinades, sauces etc. The larger one-- more ribbon-like grater is great for cheeses!

Tramontina has a huge distribution center in Sugar Land which is a suburb of Houston. Might be their US HQ I think. They have a store and my sister went and bought all new cookware from them and I've been wanting to go for a long time. Well, a couple of weeks ago I finally made it.

And I got a panini pan, cast iron with the red enamel outside for the incredible price of $27 + tax. I've been wanting one of these but could not justify spending upwards of $80 for this toy.

I've only used the pan once, mainly because I haven't had much of a chance to but I'm looking forward to making many paninis. The first one I made turned out purdy good.

I also bought their metal sugar & creamer set which is really cute. DH had broken the lid on my ceramic set and I'd been unsuccessful in finding a new set that would look good in my kitchen AND wasn't made in China.

No, nothing from my wish list - DD2 thought I should have a fondue pot. I borrowed a fondue cookbook from the library, but now I'm afraid to try any of them (all fattening! ACK!)

Those bread guides are wonderful. DH got me one for Christmas a few years back (when bread machines were the thing), and we've used it ever since. Actually, I could say HE uses it, as he carves the bread!

Last Aug I got the Cuisinart ice cream maker and I've used it ONCE! I am afraid the panini would have the same fate..

I don't need it....nothing....don't need anything more....
BUT....today I went to the $ store because I needed several gift bags....and while I was there...I just had to walk around...and bought 3 glass pinch bowls...I was getting along just fine with custard cups...but...
AND I got a new dishwasher last week...but that was because my 22 year old trusty Maytag died. I know better then to buy one of the newer Maytags (the ex CEO was a very good friend and next door neighbor and when he made all those trips to China and Japan, I figured it out!)..
Anyhow I got a Jenn Aire....I know they are in the business of down draft vent systems....but it's a hotsy totsy model, likely last years but I made the dealer an offer...prepared to up it....and he said OK. Surprise!
But its' not "fun" in the way that a new stock pot would be...I still am trying to figure out the best way to load the thing!
Also got 2 new YeehaH stoves for the church...I bucked the people who said why do we need to spend that for stoves.....and I splained why!! Because I cook on them and you don't!
I think I need new potholders.....mine are beyond awful...and people give me oven mits and I feel clumsy using them, so I save them for the grill. I Have a fairly nice assortment of Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's day potholders...but I need some simple every day ones that don't have burned corners and the stuffing hanging out.

Ellen, I don't remember if it's a Whirlpool or Sears own brand made by Whirlpool. I'm too frugal to really put out big bucks on a dishwasher.

Kathleen, I feel your pain about not using your ice cream maker. I bought a quesadilla maker and never used it. How dumb a buy was that!

I don't know of anything I really need, but we have a restaurant supply store here and if I ever loose control and go in there my kitchen probably won't hold what I bring back.

I got a few things recently, including a meat thermometer that doubles as a kitchen timer, a silicone bundt cake form, a Turkish coffee pot and a cheapo mandoline that has convinced me that I really need a butcher's glove.

Oh, Beverly, I know I will use it, but enough to justify the cost, ???LOL
I just thought of something I want. A new kitchen scale, mine is old and takes up a lot of room. One of those new slim digi models, and some gals said be sure to get a zero out or something feature!!
I have a cheapo mando too, Netla, but it will do for the number of times I use it!

Shaun... I really do need a digital camera. My neighbor was selling a Sony Cybershots for 100 bucks, but I *had* to have a used Dyson vacuum instead. I don't know (or care) anything about electronics!

Lindac... I can't believe you think a stock pot is more fun than a dishwasher... especially a high end one! A stock pot doesn't turn on or move or anything... it just exists!

But...a stock pot allows me to exercise MY creativity...rather than depending on some engineer to decide how to wash my dishes.

Went to Williams Sonoma Friday. I had $250 of WS gift certificates that I got from our American Express Rewards points program. My 25-year old Cuisinart is on its last legs so I bought a new 11-cup one! Also bought another ebelskiver pan (my family loves the things!) and have some GC left over.

If you have an AmEx card look into their points program. It costs nothing. I've gotten over $2000 worth of stuff free.
