When the snow first began to melt I went out with a good pair of gloves with the thought of pulling back snow and seeing the damage to those roses. Could not budge it. I did not want to make the breakage problem worse by getting in there with a shovel so I simply had to wait. It is exactly like cement. Alright I feel more prepared for next year now. Well, you know what they say about Texas...If you don't like the weather...... I've been itching to prune some things back, but with all this nice warm weather I didn't want to stimulate LOTS of new growth just to have all that green get zapped. So patience has been the virtue I am practicing. All in good time...All in good time....I figure in a couple weeks I should be good to go. I did see a toad last night! Haven't seen those in a couple months.

I am so sorry for the delay in the season and the late snows. We are not having snow, but bad weather with threats of tornados, hail and straight-line line winds. I just want April to be over, even though May is also a part of the tornado season here. I am tired of watching the radar for hours on end to see who is being hit this time and hoping it isn't us. Once again we are in the next to worst category for tomorrow beginning at 4:00 A.M. I guess we all have to face problems of one sort of another, but I guess our perseverance is what makes us gardeners. kay

Ouch! I can't imagin snow, JUlia as we rarely have it. Since it is so rare, it shuts everything sdoen as there are no plows here. We are in the 60s. As I have already said, just let me know what I have you want when you get settled. We are having a roof put on and so far, they have avoided anything t all on my daylilies. We are hoping they get finished today, but we will see how that goes. You are right, the time seems to just evaporate and we still hve to push to get things done. I hop everything goes smoothly for your move. kay
