Built up grime on white towels?
Comments (5)ALWAYS read the label before using bleach on the towels/other items. Many say to not use bleach. Items may turn yellow permanently. Try washing towels in hot vinegar water to remove detergent residue. About 2 cups white vinegar to washer. Put in wash and rinse cycles. Then, soak towels in Oxy-Clean water for 24-36 hours. Best to use warm or hot water in order for Oxy-Clean granules to dissolve. Every few hours turn washer to agitate for a minute to keep solution mixed. WORD OF WARNING: Soaking clothes in a washing machine for long period of time may end up with gaskets leaking water down into the motor area. All depends on the washer being used. Using the bathtub would be a good alternative. This post was edited by krissie on Tue, Mar 4, 14 at 14:37...See MoreTarget Up and Up Detergent
Comments (11)I did wash the new Threshold bed sheets in the powder Up and Up Lavender Bloom detergent. First let me say this doesn't exactly smell like Lavender, in the box its a sweet scent, if I could put a scent to the phrase **Pretty in Pink** this detergent would be perfect. I like more vintage scents, but I like this one. Which is strange for me. On with washing the new sheets, two twin sets, water temp 128deg f...Up and Up detergent, no sudsing throughout the wash cycle, just an occasional bubble here and there, rinse water Crystal clear, no slippery feel, and I did not use FS. Out of the washer there was only a faint wiff of the detergent, even holding them to my nose and huffing deeply I only detected a slight wiff . Out of the dryer, no scent at all, not even a faint, * I think I smell it* no scent other than that *nothing scent* that means clean to me. The sheets were smooth with that finished feel. I know this was not a fair test as far as cleaning performance goes, I'll put it to the * can it remove stains and odors* test later today, but so far its passed the bed sheet test on new sheets at least, I'll try it later on my hubs sheets, he is a heavy sweat-er at night. Mich, although this is a new detergent to me, it doesnt appear to be like sears..even the texture is different, its more fluffy, like All Free powder.course it could have the same cleaning performance, box doesnt say who manufacters it, just says made in the USA distributed by Target. Thank you all for your Duvet cover recommendations, I will have to make a trip to Bed Bath and Beyond....See Morehelp me get this detergent from my clothing please! :(
Comments (62)Arkansas...let me explain. ...years ago soap was used to do laundry thats all there was but once synthetic detergent hit the market our grandparents were thrilled...Dr Bronners is lovely I love it expecially the peppermint...but its a soap....think about bar bath soap and the ring of scum it leaves in a tub that's what it leaves in clothing and in a washer on the washer parts you can't see or get to without a complete tear down its a perfect breeding ground in the washer for mold to grow and it will. Since bleach or no other chemical is going to clean this on its own you would have to tear the machine apart and use a scrub brush and a lot of elbow grease. This scum will build up in the fibers of textiles causing dingy clothes and an odor. I know this stuff is all over the net on all the mommy blogs but they arnt giving the complete picture. Soap can be used but its a lot of work...you would need a wringer washer...tons of very hot next to boiling water for the wash and rinse cycle and a good phosphate as it requires chemically softened water and still all the soap won't be removed....also think about this..the main recipe for this stuff is Washing soda and soap..add 2 T per load...that means each ingrident going in each load amounts to grams yet the directions on the washing soda box says add 1/2 to 1 cup per load to act as a booster to your detergent so what's a few grams gonna do.... Our grandparent were thrilled when synthetic detergent hit the market. ...keep looking Arkansas..this homemade brew is for people looking for cheap..not people that want clean clothes....See MoreAny new laundry detergents out there?
Comments (32)Annette, are you familiar with Thierry Mugler's perfume Angel? If so and you like it you will love Diva then, I smells exactly like Angel. Also, I buy it at a boutique near me, you might check to see if you can buy it locally, then you could smell all the scents and the Tyler Candles are really nice and they also have car scents to match... its a vicious cycle.. lol...See Morejoe_in_philly
