Samsung washers made by Maytag?
Comments (15)Here is the RECALL NOTICE from Samsung about these washers. You can download the user manual from Samsungs website that tells what parts are needed if you have leak in your cabinet. A wise consumer would have purchased an exteneded warranty from the dealer and not have had to deal with any of these crap!! RECALL NOTICE: Today, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Samsung Electronics America is voluntarily recalling WF306BHW and WF316 Samsung brand front-loading washing machines manufactured through August 2006. Consumers can find out if their washer is covered by this recall by visiting our site at www.Samsung.com/washerrecall or call our toll-free recall hotline anytime between 9:00 am and 9:00 pm EDT Monday through Friday at 1-800-515-7902. Samsung was happy to cooperate with the CPSC and will continue to cooperate with any and all regulatory agencies to provide the safest and best products because what is most important to Samsung is happy, repeat consumers....See MoreSamsung Silvercare FL initial impressions -- excellent!
Comments (21)I am fairly sure that crooks101 didn't mean it that way. It is not about selling a broken washer, but about selling a washer that doesn't work in a specific setting or doesn't fullfill somebody's specific expectations without being broken. Something like a vibration problem doesn't mean that the same washer won't work on a concrete floor. In crooks101's case, the Miele didn't use the heater on the normal cycle and Miele won't "fix" it. There are many Miele owners who don't care about that issue though. I agree, however, that a good return policy is always better than having to sell an appliance that is almost new. After several years of using a washer, I wouldn't be too concerned about its resale value anymore. And you can still sell something that is broken if you disclose the problem and somebody wants it anyway for spare parts or so......See MoreIs stacking Samsung Dryer DV337 on Samsung Washer WF337 recommend
Comments (10)Amd111~ For what it's worth, I have a Maytag Epic set. They are stackable also & did require a kit... Just remember if you have to take the feet off the dryer to put them in a safe place!... Anyway, I originally had mine stacked & it didn't seem to cause any problems; no extra noise, vibration, etc... Also, we live in a mobile home, and there was no problem w/ the weight at all, I was also paranoid about this to begin with. Just recently, I unstacked mine to create hanging space in my laundry room, remember the "tip" above? I lost 1 of my dryer feet & DH had to rig up boards of the perfect height to go under my dryer so it was the same height as my washer! About the venting situation... Why couldn't you buy a longer dryer vent, possibly the expandable periscope vents, and maybe even a longer dryer cord if necessary to put the machines like they're supposed to be? I had to rearrange my laundry room from the way it's supposed to be set up b/c of the depth of my machines, I just bought a longer dryer cord, a periscope vent (these also let you push the dryer further back), and longer washer hoses... All of this stuff is readily available online. Anyway, that's just a thought, good luck! Mc_Hudd...See MoreConsumer Reports seems to think Silvercare actually works
Comments (0)Like a lot of other people, I've been looking for the best washer. The Samsung looks pretty good. It seems like, under some circumstances its Silvercare could be a real benefit and seems to be unique to the Samsung line. Add in their vibration reduction and recessed drain holes (to reduce wear on clothes) and it seems like a real winner. OTOH, the new Electrolux has a larger capacity, faster spin, also claims vibration reduction (though not silvercare nor receessed drain holes) and, hopefully, tries to improve upon what's out there now. The 4.7 Electrolux is cheaper than the 4.5 Samsung. There is a 4.0 Samusung that's a bit less than the Electrolux. It does seem like the manufacturers keep learning, and that the newer machines address the weak points of the older designs. Any general thoughts on Samsung vs. Electrolux? (or is there anything else out there worth considering) ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ How we tested. We washed T-shirts 10 times using the SilverCare setting, drying the shirts between each wash. Next, we cut the shirts in half and sewed them together with halves of shirts cleaned in a conventional washer. Volunteers wore those shirts while exercising, then tore them in half and stowed each section in separate zip-top bags. We let the shirts "ferment" over a weekend. What we found. The Samsung performed very well overall, and T-shirt halves washed on its SilverCare setting were less malodorous than those washed normally, so clothes should smell fresher longer. But SilverCare adds 6 to 24 minutes per load, and you must replace the silver bars after 10 years or 3,000 washes (about $50 to $75 per pair). WeÂre also concerned about potential health and environmental impacts of silver on clothes and wastewater. CRÂs take. This Samsung is fairly pricey. You can get a washer with comparable ability to remove dirt and stains, such as the Kenmore HE2, for less.
