I replace my frames maybe every 5-7 years. m Might change the lenses once or twice depending on how well I can see out of them. I usually wear contacts. I got new glasses in the fall and wear them more often than I was wearing the old glasses.

mine get mostly renewed/changed, when the old frame dies. LOL, at least, that is what happened to the last two frames. Otherwise, when I have trouble reading, or watching TV, I know it's time.

I get new gas permeable contacts every year. I have a pair of "backup glasses" that I only wear around the house on weekends. I don't wear them when I'm on the 'puter, or when I'm knitting, or reading. Basically, it's only when I'm watching tv on the weekends. When I leave the house on weekends, I wear my contacts.

I don't see the need to replace the glasses every year, since I so rarely wear them. The lenses are replaced every year or two, depending on whether my prescription has changed much; but I just have the new lenses put in my existing frames.

I've had my glasses for 4 or 5 years. Stupid, because our insurance through Claude's work covers up to $400 for glasses plus the cost of an eye exam per person every 2 years. Stuff always comes up that takes priority over an eye exam. Bad, I know.

I wear my glasses for reading and driving but I think my eyesight has gotten to the point where I should be wearing them 24/7, so I've finally made appointments for this week! I'm debating getting contacts - I've never worn them, but I hate the feeling of having glasses sitting on my nose so it would make sense. :)

I collect vintage frames so whenever I find a fun or beautiful new style at the antique shop (usually for $12 - $18) I have new lenses put in them. With my insurance I get one free exam a year plus new lenses once a year. Without the insurance, the lenses run me $80 or so.

My eye doctor and his receptionists get a big kick out of my glasses and can't wait to see what I bring in next.

If you have a insurance plan they will replace you frames every other year. Otherewise its up to you if you want to buy new ones. DH has some frames from about 20 yrs ago that he still likes.They were made better back then.

I usually replace my glasses every 2 years--whether I need new lenses or not. I always buy new frames--just makes sense to me, for something that gets so much use. And we do have insurance that helps a little.

I wear the most expensive brand of progressive lenses. Normally, I go to the local college that trains opticians, and buy my frames and lenses at cost. Last pair (designer frames, magnetic sunglasses, the progressive lenses with the top line of non-glare coating) would have cost me between $800-1000 at DD's optical shop, with the family discount. At the college, they cost me just a hair over $200--then I got $50 back from my insurance, so they came in at about $150. DD just learned this week, that she can give us our glasses at cost now--so maybe next time, I'll look there first, and see.

When I get a new pair, I keep the one I'm replacing, but donate any older than that to the Lions

I wear contacts as well, but usually take them out as soon as I come home so my glasses get worn daily and most of the weekend. So I replace my glasses Rx every other year unless it is a drastic change. The frames are up in the air, if I think they need replaced I replace them. I did not replace them when I had new lenses done last month.

Fashions change in glasses, too. That's not important if you don't care about it or if you only wear them at home, but if you're out in public and have a job where image matters, it is.

I generally buy my glasses at Lenscrafters, because they have a 30-day guarantee that if you don't like them, they'll replace them. This last time, I went to a less-expensive place without that guarantee. The glasses are well-made and fashionable, and I can see well with them, but I just don't like the way they look on me. Doesn't matter, because I can't afford to toss away close to $500. If I'd gotten them from Lenscrafters, I would have had them make me a new pair.

About every 3-4 years. I know I'm ready for a new pair, because I last got glasses when I retired in 2005.

I used to change lenses every two years or so. When I moved to Iowa, I didn't know my medical insurance covered glasses so it has been 5 or more years since I changed lenses. I have an appointment next month and will get new frames and lenses. I have been getting yearly eye exams all my adult life it seems.

So far I just need readers...and my doctor keeps telling me that drug store readers are fine for me.

So I buy quite a few of them...I have them all over the house. I don't take very good care of them and they get scratched by stuffing them into my purse or pocket. Bad habit..hope I'll be able to break it if I ever need "real ones".

I have worn contacts for the past 20 years and love them. I decided to get glasses when I went for an exam a couple of months ago. It's a good thing because shortly after I got a sty on my eye and couldn't wear my contacts. I prefer contacts, but do wear the glasses for a different look when I feel like it.

Oh, I should probably have added, that I only replace my main pair every 2 years. I have other pairs--a pair with just my reading prescription (so I can read in bed without breaking my neck--LOL), and one with near and mid-length (no distance) prescriptions for the computer. I don't replace those every time I get a new prescription, because I only wear those occasionally.

I haven't worn contacts for years but I wear my glasses all the time. I probably get one or two pairs every two to three years. Prescipt sun glasses far less often. Got a pair of progressive lenses recently. Wow, they are costly. It's taking me a while to get used to them. The focus area is very narrow. I want new glasses already!

I have been wearing contact lens since the 1960's. Still continue to wear them, thank goodness they are much more comfortable now, the first ones in the 60's that I wore were uncomfortable and you just had to learn to wear them. I take them out at night and wear my glasses and since I am retired, somedays will wear my glasses most of the day. I see so much better with the contacts. You can tell from my postings that I am an older lady, doctors said I can wear the contacts as long as I can put them in and care for them. Wear gas perms, so I get a new pair once a year, really not necessary to replace that often, but with the prices so reasonable now for the contacts I chose to do this. Glasses, I usually get a new pair about every 4 years. Schoolhouse, love the idea that you use the vintage frames. I still have my frames from the 50's, and I have done the same as you. I also have the cool glass cases from my first glasses. They have flower designs and I admit still love my old cat eye glasses.

I am new to wearing glasses and don't wear them all the time. I bought frames that will last long time in looks.

As long as they are solid and good, I will keep them for long time.

The lens, well that is up to your prescription and if you need new one with drastic enough change in it to need one.

I got scratch free and all those stuff and lens so far what two years or is it three now and they are still good. Happy with them and frames.

I wear both contacts and eyeglasses. I like to have at least a couple of different pairs of glasses plus sunglasses. If you think about it, glasses sit right on your face and can make a huge difference in how you look, more then almost anything else.

Women will have a couple of dozen pairs of shoes, several purses, spend big bucks on their hair and nails but wear one single style frame day in and day out for a couple of years or more.
