Powder/Laundry Rm Redo..Need Help - Quick!

User

We're redoing our small powder rm/laundry rm - painting, replacing countertop, sink, faucet & lighting fixture.

The room is small and I intended to keep the frameless mirror that sets right over the backsplash and went up to the overhead lighting fixture. It makes the room appear more spacious than a smaller, framed mirror.

We just held our new light fixture up over the vanity and realized the new shades are going to drop about 3 inches below the top of the mirror. The light fixture can't be raised (electrical box location/ceiling height.)

My question is, do you think it will look okay to have the shades drop below the top of the mirror? DH needs to know if he has to start covering/spackling the holes from our present one, and I need to know if I have to go out and buy a new mirror.

I like my present mirror, but don't want to do anything that would look wrong. I don't think it would look bad, but can't say I'm thinking straight right now.

Appreciate your thoughts!
