Sorry I haven't posted but....

It's been kind of a rough holiday season for me. This is the first time I have ever been alone on the holidays. It was just a year ago that Dh and I separated and all the memories (good and bad) came flooding back. I'm doing okay though. I now have Myben and she is such a joy to have with me.

Work is wonderful and I must say that I have never been happier at a job! Bosses and coworkers are wonderful and they made the holiday a little more special for me.

I am still decorating my new apartment with artwork. I did paint the entire place which made it 100% more cheery.

I still text DH every night when I get home so he knows I am ok. We haven't discussed divorce at all but we are both ok with our separate lives.

I text my sweetie everyday but I wish I could see him more often. Our schedules make it difficult but living closer to him helps.

I will be posting more often again now that the holidays are over. Just didn't feel like talking much during Christmas.

Holidays are stressful for many of us. I for one am glad the holidays are over. It is easy to get wrapped up in expectations; the ways things were, the way you wish they were, what is actually your reality etc.

Carol - I'm sticking with the tried-n-true Clemson Spineless...and the Cowhorn which is later to bear, but I really like that the size can get larger without getting tough. And then...a friend that lives out of state gave me some Star of David okra seeds. Don't know much about them, but hey! Gotta plant them and see what I think. This friend of mine swears by the Baby Bubba okra...which really hasn't impressed me much so we'll see. She lives in Mississippi. The Burgundy okras are really pretty and to me taste a bit sweeter but ...not worth the extra garden space. Last year I thought it would be so cool to make pickled okra with red & green for Holiday gifts. Guess what? The vinegar totally washed out any color difference so that thought went right out the window. Bummer.... And considering I was so "okra challenged" last year, I've still got 13 bags of breaded okra in the freezer...is this a GREAT state or what? lol

I never quite thought of it that way but my "fear of salty foods in worm bins" is not for the sake of the worms but for the plants the vermicompost may help to grow. Typically salt is kept out of plant growning mediums. Worms may do fine with what bit if salt may find them. If fed BSFL castings they may have even saltier kibbles and bits. I would still endever to obey my fear of salt in additoins to the bin. Although I may of given up a bit of ground while laughing heartly over my fear of salty foods in worm bins I find it much harder to conceed over the need for air. I do not find the need for air/ventilation at all exaggerated. If anything I dream of a worm bin with sides as air condeming as chicken wire. I wonder if the drainage holes in bins are actually more useful as air holes. I have no explination for the kept fishing worms in small tight lidded Styrofoam containers for weeks without ill effects. But would agree that worms kept cool need less air due to their bedding needing less air due to microbes needing less air. hhiii, any interest in making a few more nicks in the rim/molding/insulation of the bin and putting the cover firmly back on to see if the worms would also congrigate along the air free flow areas? A balance between keeping warm and keeping airated is what I guess you are looking for.

Well, there are three cops that live on our street, one on this side of our U shaped road, so I don't know how this one guy doesn't know what's going on. The kid across the street was in last week's paper, arrested for heroin and meth. Not sure if he knows the kids next door to me but I know his older brother does. His brother works at the gym Lauren went to last year and we talked about these neighbors. There were others in the paper from drug arrests but I don't know the next door neighbors' names. I feel bad for the kid across the streets parents. The mom works at Lauren's school and the father and one of the boys helped me dig out of the snow when I got stuck in my yard a few years ago. Going to be a while before I can do something permanent. Big tax bill to pay and upcoming parking pass for work I have to pay for in June. ) :

so glad the job is going well...our friend in vegas used to say it was like one big family...with the holidays over wonder if the casino will slow down a bit? have you had any if the crazy weather?

I've been thinking about you, glad you posted. I'm sorry things have been rough, holidays seem do that. Thankfully Myben came into your life at the right time. Nothing like a furbaby and your sweetie to help lift your spirits.

Good to hear from you. We have had several people in our family go through a divorce, unfortunately. In most cases, you have to treat it like a death, because that part of your life is over.

I'm glad you have Myben, I think our pets truly do help us through tough times more than we know. They can tell when you're sad or sick or worried.

Good luck to you.

Our holidays were bittersweet, too. DS#1 got married this year to a real nice girl, so we had her with us this Christmas. However, DS#2 got divorced so that was hard. He has a 3-year-old son so we had to deal with sharing him for the holidays. We had to have our Christmas AFTER December 25. That was a bit difficult for us, but it will get better, we hope.

I read somewhere that a mother can only be as happy as her UNhappiest child. That may be true.

You're doing great, girl!

Sometimes we just don't feel like 'talking', holidays or not, & one of the beauties of single life is that...
if we don't wanna, we don't hafta.

It does sound like things are shaping up-
A good job is so fulfilling,
& pets make the world go round.
& I'm a firm believer in the mood-enhancing qualities of paint, too.
