I have the LG WM2688 (with tilted Drum) and have no tangling problems.

Its the lack of water and the tilted drum! in the duet.

Maybe the LG gives more water than the Duet 9200?

I think it did, but it didnt put much water in at all, and when it would spray water in, all the clothes were in the back of the drum from tilted drum, so the water wasnt hitting the clothes and than it would tumble for awhile in 2 inches of water and than spin, it needed to put more water in as it was tumbling to work the suds out. The SQ after it adds the rinse water and tumbles it drains and continues to put water in as its on a low spin and draining and hits all the clothes, than goes high spin in between the rinses, it does that about 3 times to get all the soap out. I am very impressed with the SQ set, I read that it puts 19 gallons of water compared to 3-5, it doesnt look like much more water than the Duet in the wash cycle, but its the rinsing that counts and it does great on rinsing. It also lets me choose warm rinse, that could have been part of the problem too? Duet only has cold rinse. Also the wash times are so much shorter, Not 1-2 hrs to do a load. I think its about 45-55 minutes, I will have to time it.

If you have read my posts for the past 10 months of what I have gone thru, you know it was driving me crazy.

I have washed my towels 3 times in the SQ 2 times without soap, I wasnt seeing any suds, so the last time I used 1/2 tbl of gain powder and they are so much softer than they have been for a year, because they are getting rinsed. I also washed 6 jeans,5 tshirts and they came out so clean and soft and no suds with them either and I put a heaping TBL.

I would be very careful on buying an HE washer without seeing one work. Do you have a Maytag store in your area so you could go watch the different washers work? I even went to youtube and watched some different brands working and the comments they posted. I made up my mind about what I wanted, by reading alot of reviews, and SQ had no bad ones, then I went to their website and read about them, I liked what I read and what the people here have said about them, and the warranty is 3 yrs. I will be buying SQ when these break down.

The HE5t has a rinse option called "Skincare Rinse" that the Duet does not have. My understanding is that it adds additional water to the rinses.

Am I correct in saying that the Duet & the Maytag Epic are "sisters"? I thought I'd read this somewhere. Anyway, I have an Epic & love it. I've not noticed any of the problems that mc58 has had. Maybe a little bit of jeans getting intertwined together, but I wouldn't call it tangled. My washer seems to rinse great & I don't notice any residue being left behind. Just curious if maybe mc58 just got lemons.

I wouldnt call that a little tangling its more like BRAIDING and the soapy picture is of 10th rinse in one day, after not using soap since April 1st that is over 3 months, these pictures were taken in I think the end of July and Aug. I no longer have either of those problems.

NO it isnt due from not rinsing off after showering, or from soapy dish towels or using too much soap it is from using Tide liquid HE and the Whirlpool Duet not getting enough water to rinse.

Oh and these last 2 pictures are from clean cycle using 1/4 cup of HE BLEACH 3rd wash and 3rd rinse!!!

So what could it be? because I am not having the problems now?? Could I have gotten 2 lemons in a row? maybe!

Wow. We've only had our Duet a short time and have only run the clean cycle twice. There was nothing like the suds in your picture either time. Maybe Tide liquid is the lemon. I'll be sure to stay away from it and other liquids. So far, so good with Tide powder (the only HE powder readily available in my area). I agree that the Duet appears to use very little water. We select the second rinse option for just about all our loads.

Have you noticed whether the tangling/braiding is dependent on load size or load diversity? While we haven't experienced anything like what your photos show, I have noticed that some separation is required when transferring loads to the dryer.

Do you have the Duet 9200? It seems that the others that have the 9400 or 9600 dont have these problems.

The bleach I used for the clean cycle was the HE bleach, I didnt have that happen with regular bleach. In the loads of towels I only had used Tide Liquid HE. So yes I would only use powder. I did try the powder Charlies Soap for about a month, but it didnt seem to clean well. I always used the extra rinse cycle as well.
The tangling issue, I had tried everything and every size of loads but nothing helped, it did the same thing to jeans as well and put permanent creases in them. It was just too much for me to deal with because I have a bad back.

9400. What's the difference between regular and HE bleach?

I heard that the HE bleach does produce more suds and it is'nt disinfectant either? I just thought of buying it because it was HE.

I think the HE bleach is just marketing trying capture more store shelf space.

I also think you're right mc58, it's not labeled as a disinfectant but it has deodorizer properties.

Only original Clorox bleach is labeled to kill germs.

It is a clorox bleach that is why I purchased it, I dont understand why they would make these products that cause so much suds and recommend we use them.

I have never in my life had so much greef over doing laundry untill I bought my new Whirlpool Duet that is suppose to do bigger loads, I was told that they are not to be used for "big loads" as they say, because it can ruin the gaskets & shocks. So now I have to ask, are they wanting our machines to break down?

I'm trying the new Tide Total Care detergent and grabbed the HE version by accident (I'm using a standard, over 10 year old Whirlpool top loader).

I noticed suds even though there really should be none since it's the HE version. I've used HE versions in the past, mostly from Tide and there were like no suds.

Anyone else notice Tide Total Care HE producing more suds then it should?

HE = no suds? I thought HE meant lower suds. We see a few suds when using Tide HE powder in our Duet and are satisfied with its rinsing.

HE detergents are supposed to be LOW sudsing. Seeing a few bubbles is okay.

I got two bottles of the Tide Total Care HE detergent for free because I participated in an online survey. It just says that it is a concentrate, but it doesn't say if it is 2x or 3x. I agree with georgect, it does create too much suds even if I use very small amounts (barely covering the bottom of the cap). I also don't think that it rinses out completely. On a few t-shirts I found greasy looking stains after using it and I believe it comes from the softener in the Tide. I haven't finished up the first bottle yet since I just use it ocasionally on towels and bedding now. After a hot wash it seems to rinse out a little better and I haven't noticed any stains on our sheets...

I normally use the Sears detergent and I am very satisfied with the cost and cleaning results. No need to spend a lot of money on Tide or other "fancy" brands.

OH MY GOD!..............I was really bored tonight so catching up on reading some of the posts on this forum.....I saw those pics posted above. I have NEVER seen any suds in my Duet using the Sears scoop of Sears detergent or Tide he powder....Frankly....The only issues I've had with my Duet (error codes) and those were solved with a new circuit board 2 yrs ago and no problems since (although I read a fix on another post) but I bought the extended warranty and my sister works for Whirlpool so I got a discount when I bought these through her. But yeah, Honestly, I never see suds AT ALL......even during the wash, much less the rinse....I live in Lex KY the water company says our water is moderately hard, maybe that's why. I have opened the door once the wash tub is as full of water as its going to get and I have felt the clothes and there is that (slick) feeling and you know your clothes are saturated with detergent......I couldn't believe the bubbles I saw in that washer.....HMMMMMMM ........ Congratulations on your new SQ's......I'm sure you can't go wrong with those..... :) Speaking of FL washers.......Are there any American FL washers that allow you to add more water or is that non-existent? Since I just have a simple top loader, I don't even think of buying special detergent, but --- at a grocery store the other day, I noticed an entire basketful of liquid Tide HE, don't know any other specifics, for 1/2 price. I wondered a the time if there was a problem.

ladytexan, my guess is they were discontinued products. Either discontinued by the manufacturer or by the store. Possibly the 1x versions? As the store resets the shelves they'll often mark the product down to sell it out quickly. No, I'm sure there wasn't a problem! It's normal marketing. You'll see discontinued items marked down all the time. You could have gotten quite a deal potentially.

Hello. Reading this post got me thinking about the other post regarding "adjust the screw" in the duet/kenmore HEt's to add more water...Well...Someone posted these machines were NOT DESIGNED or INTENDED to hold more water......If that is the case.........You have delicate cycle...skin care rinse cycle.....soak cycle......All which use more water!!! So to me, that tells me these machine CAN hold more water without damage to the machine....I would LOVE it if my Duet had the skin care rinse cycle. I wish someone had a video so I could see how much water it used. Speaking of increasing water levels. I personally would like to try adjusting it, but only get to the amount that the delicate cycle uses, no more than that. I saw the pictures how to adjust the screw but my problem is where the screw is the hole is sooo small. I have read here where some have tried this with success but how on earth did you do it??? My smallest slotted screw driver wont go through that small hole...Please help :)

I have the 9300.......It has the built in heater but lacks the bulky cycle and prewash cycle that the 9400 has. I never see one single bubble in any laundry I have ever done it it. I've never used liquid soap though, only sears he powder and tide he powder maybe 3/4 sears scoop full for either one I've used.
