New Year, new life???

We shall see....in about 3 weeks! :-)

As alot of you know, we have some embryos frozen (4 to be exact). We've decided to defrost a couple and see if we can give Grant a brother or sister (or both???). So on Thursday, Jan. 17 we are doing an embryo transfer. I'll have a pregnancy test 9 days later.

I've been on medication (shots) since mid December and the headaches from them are horrible, but otherwise, I feel pretty good.

So all you KT aunties and grandmas...wish me luck!! :-)

I am a newbie so not much help, but I did grow New Day last year and LOVED it. It looks like it made it through the winter with some die back but I did not winter protect at all (with last year being my first year I just kind of wanted to see what would happen and what would survive, I do plan to winter protect this year) Here are two New Day blooms in a bouquet with Double Delight, Headliner, and a few other soft pinks (probably Bewitched) and Lady X. If New Day had not made it through the winter I would definitely be replacing it because of the few yellows I planted last year this one was the prettiest with beautifully shaped blooms. I am no help with New Zealand, just looked it up on hmf because of all of the praise in this post, it does look like a nice soft baby pink and I would love to add it at some point. You'll have to keep us posted how it turns out if you decide on that one. New Year has always looked pretty to me on hmf, I bought one last year but it was mislabeled. I just bought one this year so hopefully I can give it a go. Never thought I would enjoy those oranges as much as I did last year since I'm a soft colors fan, but I really wanted to give New Year a go and couldn't pass it up when I saw it last week in one of those bagged pots. We'll see. Thanks for your suggestion to not dig up stuff so early in that other post about SPing. I had no idea that some could show life as last as June, and that if it did come back I could replant deeper. I thought it was done when that bud union went through one of our winters above ground! Fortunately I only pulled out a few that showed no life but the rest I'm iffy on I will leave in and let spring work its magic.

Angelaid, I love potato pancakes but I would say that is is my favourite version. There is no secret to making these pancakes. I've made them with mashed potatoes that I made specifically for making these pancakes and I've also made extra mashed potatoes for dinner and saved the leftovers for these pancakes. When I make them with the leftover mashed potatoes there is also butter in the mix. This is not a stiff or thick batter. I use a 1/4 cup measuring cup to scoop up the batter. Mere Blanc's Potato Pancakes From:www.thedailyspud.com with very minor changes. 2 small baking potatoes 1/4 cup milk 1/3 cup All-Purpose flour 2 eggs, separated 1-1/2 tablespoons heavy cream Pinch of salt Pepper Fresh chives (or green onions) Butter for frying Cook potatoes until tender Mash with a little milk. Let potatoes cool before adding the remaining milk, cream, flour, egg yolks, salt, pepper and chives. Beat Egg Whites until stiff. Fold into potato mixture. Do not over mix. This is a light but thick batter. Heat a griddle or skillet. ( I used a rectangle electric frying pan) . Brush with butter. Using a 1/4 cup measuring cup drop batter on to griddle. I think its important as a single person to just get "out and about". I too enjoy my freedom yet would love a healthy, close relationship. My goal this year, for the first time in my 51 years of life, is to seek people out, to feed my need for belonging. I truly enjoy my own company, but we all need to get out and socialize... I agree that our New Year's resolutions should be processes...baby steps!

Thank you, Judy! This is actually one of my "phantom" posts that never would appear on the day I originally tried to share it. Looks like it finally did make itself known, but that was a weird day with all sorts of glitches going on, it seemed. Since posting - about a month in now - I'm pleased to be able to report that I've changed my dietary and workout habits significantly. I weighed myself initially and think I've lost perhaps a little weight, but I don't intend to become obsessive about weighing myself and will give it some more time before I do so again. Mostly, I am noticing a bit more definition and tone in my muscles, particularly the upper body. This thrills me, and I find that I look forward to lifting weights (whereas I used to HATE it). I've been treadmill running (ok, jogging interspersed with some fast walking) and that's how I wake up first thing in the morning. All in all, I do feel like there's something of a "new me" this new year, and I'm excited to see more changes as I go. I'll check out the fashion link when I have a bit more time this evening. I do need to revamp my wardrobe a bit, so I'll be very interested in what I can learn there!

Crossin' my fingers for you! I have a couple friends trying the old-fashioned way right now. So I hope babies are in the New Year for all the hopeful mommies to be, whatever it takes to get them here.

Teresa, we are planning at this point to transfer 2 embryos. They are frozen in sets of 2 so we'll unthaw 2 and see how they do. If they both look good and survive the thaw, we'll use them both. If they dont look that great or one (or both) doesn't survive, we'll unthaw the other 2 and transfer whatever we have left. So we'll end up with either 2 or 3.

With Grant, we unthawed 3 (they were all frozen together) and one didnt make it so we ended up with 2 to transfer and I was only pregnant with a singleton.

Regarding the IVF shirt, I totally forgot about that shirt. I can't remember where I got it (online somewhere) but I'll look through my bookmarks and see if maybe I have it. Sorry that's not much help, but I'll try to find it for you.

Great news steph!
You and Brent are great parents and Grant will be the best big brother ever! You guys, in my opinion, are a practically perfect family and a new addition(s) will only make you perfect-er.

Too bad you can't do something about your mother. All families can't be completely perfect, can they?

How exciting!! Would it be terrible to wish you multiples.
Twins are a lot of fun. Mine just turned 46 and my boy twin has boy/girl twins that are 4. My 2 nephews each have a set of girl twins. I think I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Wishing you the best Steph! Were the shots as bad this time? I know you went through a lot to have Grant....but he was so worth it! He was born when I was in PA visiting my Mom.I showed her his pics and told her what all you went through to get him here.Now when you post pics of him,I have to send them to her so she can watch him grow.....she loves watching Grant grow up!

Dakota will be a big sister again. I'm hoping you have twins. My GS and GDIL are expecting again in March. It is a boy to go with Girl[Myra] who is sixteen months. Good Luck that it will go faster this time.

I have shivers of excitement and anticipation running up my spine as I read this, and I don't even know you personally... only through this website. I hope and pray ALL goes very well, and that it's a total success. My niece had one child, a boy, her first ivf....then twins...boy/girl the last time. I wish you all the best.
