'James MacFarlane' is a famous lilac but there are some things you might want to know before settling on a permanent spot for it in your garden. It is not the same species as "regular" lilacs. It's a hybrid of two other species. It blooms later and doesn't have the same fragrance. It gets very big and needs a lot of space--like a small tree. The flowers are pink, not lilac, and are very pretty. Like all lilacs, it wants full sun and lots of air circulation. Not a shrub for part-shade or root competition with trees or shrubs. 'James MacFarlane' is one of the Preston hybrids, so-called because the original crosses were made by Isabella Preston at the Ottawa experiment station in Canada in the 1920s. Tho a Preston hybrid, 'James MacFarlane' was developed at the University of New Hampshire and introduced to gardeners in 1959. It became very popular and is widely available. But it needs a lot of space and a lot of sun and air circulation, like all lilacs. Hope you're happy with yours!

I really liked him. He was in a Christmas movie with Julie Andrews that I loved. She was a doctor whose husband had died and he had a beloved wife in an Alzheimer's unit.

Oh man I had the biggest crush on him when I was younger...there was something about the way he moved his cute little fanny when he walked! But that scene from Misery! I couldn't watch Kathy Bates in any movies for years afterward! So sorry to hear this. I enjoyed much of his work over the years.

I think the green can work but please while doing this remove the shutters on all multi windows they do not belong there and IMO remove them all The white trim with the dark green will be nice The house will take on a different look and IMO the screen door is not right for the house once the siding is done A nice front door IMO should not be covered by a screen door so get a Phantom screen .
